Iran said the military actions by the US, UK and Israel against Yemen were a violation of Yemen's national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and went against the principles of international law and the UN Charter. Mr. Baghaei warned that these actions would increase insecurity and instability in the West Asian region.
According to the Houthi-run al-Masirah TV channel, the US-led naval coalition conducted three airstrikes on Saada province in northern Yemen on the morning of January 5.
Since November 2023, the Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, have launched frequent rocket and drone attacks against Israel and disrupted Israeli-related shipping in the Red Sea in a show of support for the Palestinians. In response, the US-UK naval coalition based in the region has repeatedly carried out airstrikes against Houthi targets.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman also expressed sympathy and condolences to the Pakistani people after the deadly attack in Balochistan province. Mr. Baghaei stressed the need to intensify efforts to prevent and combat terrorism.
