According to Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang, the overseas Vietnamese community has accompanied the nation not only with affection and patriotism, but also through material and intellectual contributions.

The amount of remittances sent to Vietnam from 1993 to 2024 reached nearly 250 billion USD. Established in 1959, the predecessor of the Central Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese is the first agency with the specialized function of assisting the Government in implementing policies towards overseas Vietnamese. Over the past 6 decades, the Committee has accompanied the Vietnamese community in more than 130 countries and territories, gradually concretizing the policy of great national unity, and mobilizing overseas Vietnamese resources for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

The Committee has contributed to advising on the issuance of strategic documents such as Resolution 36-NQ/TW, Directive 45-CT/TW, Conclusion 12-KL/TW; creating a favorable legal corridor for overseas Vietnamese to integrate into their host country while still remaining attached to their homeland.

In addition to policy achievements, symbolic activities organized by the Committee - from the Homeland Spring program, the overseas Vietnamese delegation visiting Truong Sa, to the Overseas Vietnamese Intellectuals Forum giving advice to the country - have become a strong bridge between the Vietnamese community and the Fatherland.

According to Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Trung Kien, this honor is not only a tribute to the previous generation, but also a motivation for the current generations to continue to innovate their thinking and working methods, and more strongly connect the overseas Vietnamese community with national development.

The Committee has determined the motto “wherever there are overseas Vietnamese, there are organizations”, continuing to support associations, clubs, and networks of Vietnamese youth, intellectuals, and businessmen abroad. At the same time, the Committee focuses on preserving the Vietnamese language, national cultural values, and religion in the community, creating a sustainable spiritual foundation for the movement of overseas Vietnamese to return to the homeland.

Being honored at the “Glory of Vietnam 2025” program is not only a proud milestone in the Committee’s journey of more than 65 years, but also a profound reminder of its mission to continue to promote its role as a reliable bridge, accompanying overseas Vietnamese in building a sustainable, prosperous and prosperous Vietnam.
