The airstrike killed the senior commander, who was believed to be behind a July 27 attack on a soccer field in the village of Majdal Shams in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights that killed 12 people, although Hezbollah denied responsibility, according to the AP news agency.
Hezbollah did not confirm the commander's death, while the Israeli government did not immediately issue a statement on the attack.
Meanwhile, responding to Reuters , two security sources revealed that the targeted Hezbollah leader, named Muhsin Shukr, survived the airstrike.
According to information from the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health , Israel attacked an apartment building, killing one person and injuring 68 others, including five in critical cases.
Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV reported that 17 of the injured were taken to the private Bahman hospital, while 14 others were taken to the movement's Rasoul Aazam hospital.
Hezbollah official Ali Ammar warned on Al-Manar : "Israel will pay for this sooner or later."
Lebanon's interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati also condemned the Israeli attack, saying Beirut had the right to take "any measures" to stop Israel's actions and he had called an emergency Cabinet meeting on July 31.
Regarding the international community's reaction, immediately after the attack, Hamas, Houthi movements and countries such as Iran and Russia unanimously condemned it.
Hamas said the attack was a "dangerous escalation", while Houthi condemned the attack as a "blatant violation" of Lebanon's sovereignty.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani called the attack "heinous" and said it "certainly cannot deter Lebanon's proud resistance to continue its honorable path of supporting the Palestinian people."
The Russian Foreign Ministry also issued a statement condemning the incident, stating: "This is a blatant violation of international law."
Israel has not responded to the comments.
