Kalapa Challenge 2023 uses technology to bring new solutions to medicine

Accordingly, Kalapa Challenge 2023 with the theme ByteBattles is an annual machine learning competition, organized by Kalapa Joint Stock Company with information sponsorship from the Vietnam Association of Information Technology.

The challenge for this year's contestants was to propose new solutions for medicine to improve the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and provide an effective solution for managing and converting handwritten documents.

The contest starts on October 15, 2023 with 2 rounds and 2 problems: Answering questions about Vietnamese medicine and Recognizing handwritten Vietnamese characters.

The final round has just officially ended with a very exciting competition format, this is a new competition format that appeared for the first time in Vietnam. After 4 hours of intense and dramatic competition, the competition has found the owners of the final awards.

For the problem "Vietnamese Medical Question Answering", the first prize went to the GPU Dominators team with the only member being Ngo Dinh Luan, born in 2000, currently an AI engineer for a famous corporation in Vietnam. For the problem "Vietnamese Handwritten Text Recognition", the first prize went to the Gau Tun team with the only member being Do Manh, born in 1996, also an AI engineer at a technology company.

Mr. Le Tran Bao Cuong - Project Director of Kalapa and Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition said: "The topic of the Kalapa Challenge 2023 competition is relatively difficult, targeting good or experienced candidates (expert level). The criteria of the competition is to find well-invested, elaborate entries with high practical application value. We hope this will be a useful technology playground for artificial intelligence engineers to have the opportunity to exchange, learn, and improve their knowledge, and through that they can contribute very high-quality models for application in medicine, management and conversion of handwritten documents, creating many values ​​for society. After this competition, the models of the winning teams will all be widely published and will be a valuable reference for the artificial intelligence research community".
