Kenny G will part with a saxophone that has been with him for many years to give it to the Good Morning Vietnam music project initiated by Nhan Dan Newspaper and IB Group Vietnam and organized on November 14 at the National Convention Center ( Hanoi ). Interestingly, the organizers did not have to work hard to convince him to achieve that as the public speculated.
Kenny G's music is very familiar to the Vietnamese public.
"When Kenny G learned that the purpose of the program was charity and that all ticket sales would be donated by Nhan Dan Newspaper to funds to support people in difficult circumstances, especially children, he was very touched and decided to donate a trumpet for charity auction, hoping to raise more funds for this meaningful activity. We think that the program's community-oriented goal has touched the artist's soul, not as hard to convince as everyone thinks," said Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee and Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper.
Good Morning Vietnam The program is expected to be held annually, with the aim of spreading music and doing charity work from ticket sales. The name of the program, according to Mr. Minh, is coincidentally similar to, and not inspired by, the famous American television program Good Morning America. " The program aims to bring top international music to Vietnam, so we chose this name because we imagine it as a friendly greeting that every foreigner coming to Vietnam can say and we also welcome international friends like that," said Mr. Minh.
Good Morning Vietnam is a music project by Nhan Dan Newspaper and IB Group.
According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Kenny G was invited to open the Good Morning Vietnam series thanks to the artist's fame and popularity among Vietnamese music lovers. "We can easily hear Kenny G's music everywhere, every time in our daily lives, from large-scale events to family gatherings, from grand stages to restaurant and cafe spaces. Many people may listen to music without knowing which artist's work it is, but Kenny G's music has become familiar to the general public, so for an event aimed at the community and with a charitable purpose like this, there is nothing more suitable than Kenny G's music," said Mr. Minh.
Kenny G Live in Vietnam will take place for more than 2 hours following the format of Kenny G's performances on major stages around the world . Kenny G will perform with all 3 types of trumpets he has ever performed. On the Vietnamese side, musician Tuan Nam is the stage director of the program, who will also ensure that the sound technical issues meet the strict requirements down to each speaker wire that Kenny G has put forth.
Musician Tuan Nam said he was touched by the gift that Kenny G gave to the charity program of Nhan Dan Newspaper. At first, when he heard that Kenny G donated a trumpet to the program, this musician was very curious about which trumpet it would be. "I was curious whether it was the trumpet he used to perform with or a brand new trumpet produced by his Kenny G trumpet label. He is probably the only trumpet artist in the world with his own trumpet label," said musician Tuan Nam.
According to musician Tuan Nam, domestic trumpet artists also hope to own Kenny G's gift trumpet. However, Mr. Nam speculates that the trumpet will probably fall into the hands of a collector over 45 years old.
"I think it's a generation of collectors who were familiar with Kenny G's music in their youth and, more importantly, have enough financial resources to own it through auction," musician Tuan Nam said.
