Connecting social resources to build safe and friendly schools

On December 22, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) held a conference to review 3 years of implementing Plan No. 29/KH-BGDDT dated January 11, 2021 on connecting resources and building safe and friendly schools. Deputy Minister of Education and Training (MOET) Ngo Thi Minh chaired the conference.

Reporting the summary of the results of 3 years of implementing the program, Director of the Department of PhysicalEducation Nguyen Thanh De said: After 3 years of implementation, the plan has been widely deployed in 30 provinces and cities across the country, receiving the attention of Party committees and authorities at all levels, attracting the participation of many organizations and businesses, becoming a humane and meaningful educational activity, contributing to supporting educational institutions in difficult circumstances to build safe and friendly schools.

The program has called on the whole society to join hands to support students and teachers in disadvantaged areas, remote areas, and ethnic minority areas. In the first phase, the focus is on supporting 6 groups of "wishes" which are also urgent needs, including: supporting investment in building schools, public houses, and classrooms for schools in areas with special socio -economic difficulties; supporting the construction or renovation of toilets; supporting the installation of electricity and clean water systems; supporting lunches for boarding students to improve school nutrition; supporting equipment, learning and living supplies for students; supporting equipment to improve physical fitness for students...

At the conference, localities and sponsors focused on exchanging and sharing results and experiences in the process of implementing the program; at the same time, they also pointed out some difficulties and obstacles, on that basis, proposed and recommended solutions to better implement this humanitarian project in the coming time.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Ngo Thi Minh highly appreciated the serious and responsible support of ministries, departments, branches, localities, organizations, individuals, and the business community over the past 3 years, thereby helping the program achieve many good results.

According to the Deputy Minister, over the years, the Party and State of Vietnam have always paid attention to the cause of education and training. However, in the context of limited state budget, along with the impact of natural disasters, floods, and epidemics, many educational institutions across the country are still facing difficulties in terms of physical facilities. On the other hand, the living environment at home, in the community, and at schools still poses many potential risks to the safety of children and students. School violence and uncivilized behavior among students still occur in some localities and educational institutions, affecting the physical and mental health of children and students... Therefore, the program "Connecting social resources to build safe and friendly schools in the period of 2021 - 2025" has promoted the strength of solidarity, mutual love, and the joint efforts of the community and society to jointly realize the wishes of teachers and students in difficult areas.

Affirming that this is a very meaningful program, Deputy Minister Ngo Thi Minh requested that the Departments of Education and Training be more aware of their responsibilities and roles in advising local leaders and directing relevant units to coordinate and implement the program; avoid spreading investment, but need to be sustainable, meeting the right needs in difficult locations. Along with that, the units need to join hands in connecting resources; strengthen coordination and support each other to smoothly implement the program; promote communication work, increase dissemination, create momentum for localities to join together, further promoting the meaning of the program./.
