Papaken (born 1989) is a Japanese content creator, living in Hanoi for more than 2 years.
On his personal YouTube channel with hundreds of thousands of followers, Papaken regularly shares videos about his travel and culinary experiences in Hanoi and some Vietnamese provinces that he has had the opportunity to visit.
In a recently posted video, Papaken took his two children Kai and Michan to his favorite fish noodle shop on Hong Phuc Street (Ba Dinh District).
Papaken took his 2 children to his favorite restaurant to enjoy fish noodles.
He said that fish noodle soup is one of his favorite Hanoi dishes, very suitable to enjoy on cold days.
“I have known this fish noodle shop since 2 years ago. I ate it once and found it so delicious that I have been coming here quite often since then. Today, I brought Kai and Michan here because I wanted them to enjoy this delicious fish noodle dish,” he said.
The Japanese father also revealed that he had brought 3 fellow countrymen to this restaurant and they were all satisfied with the taste of the fish noodle soup here.
At the restaurant, he ordered 2 bowls of regular fish noodle soup for 2 fish and 1 bowl of special fish noodle soup. When the hot dish was served, Papaken kept exclaiming, praising the fish noodle soup here as very delicious.
“Kai and his father have eaten fish noodle soup several times at a restaurant near home and also in Nha Trang. Depending on the region, fish noodle soup has its own unique and different characteristics.
I also like Nha Trang fish noodle soup, but up to now, Hanoi fish noodle soup is still the best," Papaken shared his personal opinion.
Special fish noodle soup served with many ingredients, sweet and clear broth
The Japanese guest revealed that the special fish noodle dish has a full and attractive side dish. In addition to crispy fried fish, there are also fish cakes, fish intestines and fish eggs, along with blanched seasonal vegetables such as celery and elephant ear.
He also appreciated the sweet and rich flavor of the broth.
“The first time I ate here, I was very surprised, like I didn’t understand why the fish noodle soup was so delicious. Not only adults but also children like Kai and Michan love the taste of this noodle dish.
"Perhaps fish noodle soup is the noodle dish that I like the most, more than pho and beef noodle soup," the Japanese guest expressed.
The Japanese guest ate fish noodles and exclaimed how delicious it was.
In my personal opinion, Papaken thinks that pho is delicious but not something you want to eat all the time. Fish noodle soup has a very light taste so it is easy to eat and can be enjoyed at any time.
In particular, although most of the ingredients used to make vermicelli are made from fish, there is no fishy smell.
“When talking about fish noodle soup, many people will think that this dish has a fishy smell. But here, the fish noodle soup has absolutely no fishy smell. The broth is simmered from fish bones but is fragrant and has a natural sweet taste,” he added.
The 36-year-old father also said that he had tried fish noodle soup in many places such as Hanoi, Hai Phong , Nha Trang. Even when he was in Hanoi, when he didn't know what to eat, he stopped by this fish noodle soup shop to have a meal.

Sharing with VietNamNet reporter, the representative of the fish noodle shop that Papaken and his three sons visited said that to cook delicious fish noodle, the shop must order fresh fish every day early in the morning.
In addition to crispy fried fish, the restaurant also has fish intestines and fish eggs marinated and processed according to a special recipe so that the fish meat is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the fish intestines are crunchy, fragrant, and the fish eggs are flavorful and not too dry.
The restaurant also has a very popular fish head dish, considered a "brand" that everyone who visits wants to eat.

The broth for the restaurant's fish noodle soup is simmered from pork and fish bones, with apple and pineapple juice added to create a natural sweet and sour taste.
Each serving of fish noodle soup here costs from 40,000 to 50,000 VND, the special bowl costs 55,000 VND.
