Electronic visas (e-visas) are valid for 180 days from the date of issue, with a maximum stay of 30 days, the website of the Turkish Embassy in Hanoi announced on June 3. The new policy applies to all Vietnamese citizens holding ordinary passports from September 1, submitted via the Electronic Visa System evisa.gov.tr.
According to Deputy General Director of Viet Tourism Pham Anh Vu, currently, Vietnamese tourists who have visas and are traveling to advanced countries such as the US, Australia, and Europe can apply for Turkish visas online. If they have not been to the above countries, tourists still need to go to the Embassy in Hanoi to submit their visa applications directly.
The Turkish Embassy in Hanoi also noted that visa applicants need to ensure that they provide all information accurately for smooth processing.
Previously, from August 15, 2023, Vietnam began issuing electronic visas (e-visas) to citizens of all countries and territories entering Vietnam. The temporary stay period was also increased from 15 to 45 days for citizens of 13 countries that Vietnam unilaterally exempted from visas, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Belarus.
Mr. Vu said that e-visa will help eliminate complicated procedures and paperwork. Visitors from Ho Chi Minh City and other localities do not need to go to the Embassy in Hanoi to submit their applications, but can submit them online from anywhere. Visitors will save on travel costs, complicated notarization costs and waiting time.
Destinations such as Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale, and Ephesus are new destinations for the majority of tourists. Mr. Vu said the number of tourists going to Türkiye "will definitely increase" after the new policy comes into effect.
