Opening of the Spring Flower Festival Quy Mao 2023

On the evening of January 16, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee opened the Ho Chi Minh City Spring Flower Festival Quy Mao 2023 at Tao Dan Park, District 1. This year is the 43rd year that Ho Chi Minh City has organized the Spring Flower Festival at Tao Dan Park.

Coming to the Spring Flower Festival Quy Mao 2023, people and tourists will enjoy designs and landscapes imbued with art, rich in folk meanings and unique, novel and special works of art with the theme of Spring Peace - Spring Prosperity.

The main gate of Truong Dinh of the Spring Flower Festival is stylized from the image of two Cats welcoming visitors, next to it is a cluster of Cat families gathering on a background of brilliant flowers. The long lake axis from Truong Dinh gate to Hung King Memorial Temple is the image of a flotilla of flower boats made from Phalaenopsis orchids and other fresh flowers, symbolizing a new year of smooth sailing.

The miniature landscapes on the green hill on the right side of the long lake axis are colorful flower carpets with flower, leaf and tree models creating a colorful spring garden of the traditional New Year. The symbolic basin area with the image of Cats performing a dance represents the success and joy of 2023 and looks forward to the success of the following years.

Other areas of the Spring Flower Festival have miniature landscapes such as sunflower fields, flashing stars, and Cham Tower miniature landscapes imbued with the colors of the Southern countryside with vegetable fields, flower beds, and fruit boats.

Along with that, people and tourists will admire unique and novel works of art such as: Ancient yellow apricot works; temperate flower area with more than 200 artifacts with various types of forest camellia collection - Australian camellia, Canadian yellow apricot, ancient rose collection, ancient cherry tree, seven-inch peach, multi-colored grafted peach; fruit trees including species such as: guava with many fruits, ancient star apple, peach, lekima; miniature rockery area with 70 large and small artifacts with many novel models: miniature wood combined with stone, Hoanh Son Nhat Dai miniature rockery, miniature yellow apricot to celebrate spring. In addition, there are many unique types of trees such as the multi-colored porcelain set, including the work of the Thousand-flower Princess (nearly 3m high); collection of Vietnamese wild orchid species (multi-colored narcissus, dendrobium, cymbidium...), Dendro nang - Dendro xuan collection with mutated species, catleya with many unique new species; new and strange mutated ornamental plants; collection of marine fish, koi fish, beta fish...

In particular, this year's Spring Flower Festival displays a collection of 03 sculptures 'Nine Dragons Fighting for a Pearl' made from solid dry tree roots, including 01 work recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization as the largest solid dry tree root work in Vietnam in September 2022 by Mr. Nguyen Truong Tien and a lithophone weighing up to 6 tons by lithophone record holder artisan Truong Dinh Chieu.

Along with admiring the flowers, when coming to the Spring Flower Festival, people and tourists can also enjoy attractive programs such as cultural and artistic programs, music and dance variety shows, comedy shows on daily themes; lion and dragon performances every night and on the morning of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd day of Tet with the participation of many famous lion dance troupes such as: Hai Nam Hao Quang Duong, Thanh Nghia Duong, Phuoc Hai Duong, Hai Nam Lien Huu, Minh Hao Duong...; Vietnamese calligraphy performances, tea ceremony, which are unique traditional cultural activities of Vietnam.../.
