Early in the morning of May 19, on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, many people from all over the country gathered in front of Uncle Ho's Mausoleum to attend the flag-raising ceremony at Ba Dinh Square ( Hanoi ). Some people brought their entire families of many generations here, while others from other provinces and cities chose this occasion to come to the capital Hanoi to attend the flag-raising ceremony on this special day.
When the loudspeaker from Ba Dinh Square announced: "It's time for the flag-raising ceremony...", all activities of the people in the area stopped, all turned towards President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum.
At exactly 5:50 a.m., 34 soldiers of the Honor Guard, symbolizing the 34 soldiers of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army, performed the flag-saluting ceremony on the historic morning of May 19.
Since May 19, 2001, the flag raising and lowering ceremony at Ba Dinh Square has become a national ritual that is performed regularly and solemnly. The ritual has gradually entered the consciousness of the people of the capital Hanoi as well as the people of the whole country.
On the occasion of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, on the evening of May 18, the flag lowering ceremony was not performed (to let the national flag fly to celebrate his birthday), so on the morning of May 19, the flag raising ceremony was not performed.
At exactly 6:00 a.m., the National Anthem was played at Ba Dinh Square in a solemn atmosphere.
May 19 is an occasion for everyone to review the glorious historical tradition and express infinite gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh.
The moment of saluting the flag has passed but many people still linger.
After the flag-raising ceremony, many people took the opportunity to take photos of themselves and their families to commemorate this important day.
