Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long inspected and urged the progress of the second facility project of Bach Mai and Viet Duc Hospitals.

On the afternoon of October 28, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long inspected and chaired a meeting on the implementation of the investment project to build the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital.

This afternoon (October 28), in Ninh Binh , Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long inspected the site and chaired a meeting on the implementation of the investment project to build the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital and the second facility of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital.

Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan said that the Project Management Board holds weekly meetings every Monday at the construction site with contractors to promptly handle problems and difficulties.

For the Bach Mai Hospital 2 project, the procurement contract for 82 pieces of equipment has been signed. The installation is expected to be completed before December 25, 2025 (many contractors have committed to delivering from November 15, 2025).

Contractors in the joint venture will coordinate to test each system when qualified before connecting and testing the systems and coordinating with suppliers to install medical equipment at the construction site. The expected completion date is November 30, 2025; the acceptance test of the fire prevention and fighting system is expected to be completed on December 20, 2025.

For the Viet Duc Hospital 2 project, the procurement contract negotiations for 83 pieces of equipment have been completed and the contract signing will be completed before October 30, 2025. The installation work is expected to be completed before December 25, 2025.

Both Bach Mai Hospital 2 and Viet Duc Hospital 2 will be completed before November 30, 2025, the Ministry of Health leader affirmed.

According to Bach Mai Hospital Director Dao Xuan Co, the most important factor is human resources, the hospital has proactively recruited openly. By October 24, the hospital had recruited more than 800 doctors and nurses, however, the new recruits will not be sent to facility 2 but will be sent to facility 1 for further training. More than 600 officers and employees from facility 1 have volunteered to go to Ninh Binh to work at facility 2. "We guarantee the quality of facility 2 is equivalent to facility 1," said Mr. Dao Xuan Co. The hospital hopes that Ninh Binh province will soon complete the construction of a dormitory for medical staff and employees.

A representative of Viet Duc Hospital said that regarding human resources, the hospital has implemented a plan to train, recruit, and rotate high-quality staff from facility 1, "ensuring immediate response when facility 2 comes into operation".

The leader of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee said that the province has asked the contractor to work day and night to complete the project early, shortening the time by 1/3 compared to the plan, and soon inaugurating the social housing area with 600 apartments.

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan stated that the work from completing the construction to putting the hospital into operation is a huge amount. The Minister highly appreciated the efforts of the contractors and affirmed that the Ministry will direct the Project Management Board to pay the contractors soon. The two hospitals need to develop a roadmap and a specific plan for operating the second facility , what to do first and what to do later.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long said that the second facility project of Bach Mai and Viet Duc Hospitals is of interest to the whole society, therefore, we need to try harder to complete it soon.

The Project Management Board will pay the contractors immediately for the completed and approved works. The landscaping outside the hospital needs to be completed quickly and must be completed by November.

The Ministry of Health should focus on reviewing and promptly giving opinions on the recommendations of Bach Mai and Viet Duc Hospitals. It is necessary to review the total cost compared to the total initial investment. Any issues related to policy mechanisms should be proposed immediately.

Assessing the many changes in the working atmosphere, the Deputy Prime Minister asked the contractors to continue to try so that by the next inspection in November, the project will continue to have new developments.
