Leveraging data to effectively support digital transformation.

Tạp chí Doanh NghiệpTạp chí Doanh Nghiệp31/05/2024

According to the Minister of Information and Communications , Nguyen Manh Hung, digital transformation creates a new type of resource: data. This is a key factor for successful digital transformation.
Data lays the foundation for digital transformation. Recognizing the importance of digital data, the Ministry of Information and Communications advised the Prime Minister to approve the 'National Data Strategy to 2030'. This is a crucial strategy in Vietnam's digital transformation process, aiming to build a data infrastructure, a new foundation for national digital transformation.

According to Mr. Tran Minh Tan, Deputy Director of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology Strategy (Ministry of Information and Communications), the strategy, issued in early February 2024, is data-centric, focusing on the development of data-driven infrastructure and platforms. “Data infrastructure, encompassing open data, big data, structured data, and unstructured data, will lay the foundation for digital transformation and the development of artificial intelligence applications. The overarching principle is that the State plays a leading and guiding role, encouraging the entire population to participate in data development and ultimately benefit from it,” Mr. Tran Minh Tan shared. The national data strategy aims to: Develop public data, organize its exploitation and sharing to serve social development; Develop private data, create a data market, and also contribute to economic development. Simultaneously, there is the challenge of protecting data security and exploiting cross-border data flows to ensure data remains within Vietnam. A crucial task that ministries, sectors, and localities need to quickly implement is the publication of open data catalogs, big data, and the data strategy framework of their respective ministries and provinces, or the integration of data development strategy content into annual digital transformation projects and plans to ensure synchronization with the national data strategy. “This is very important, creating conditions for agencies, organizations, and businesses to participate in the development, sharing, exploitation, and use of data from ministries and provinces,” emphasized a representative from the Institute of Information and Communication Technology Strategy. Finding solutions for data storage and processing in the era of digital transformation: From a business perspective, Mr. Dang Van Tu, Chief Technology Officer of CMC Global, believes that the digital transformation landscape in Vietnam and the Asian region is progressing positively and strongly. In this context, data is a key factor for organizations and businesses to successfully undergo digital transformation.

Mr. Dang Van Tu, Chief Technology Officer of CMC Global, shared this at the Vietnam-Asia Digital Transformation Summit 2024.

"Every digital transformation challenge involves data. Data storage may be simple, but data processing is different. Depending on the purpose, you need a data reservoir as well as tools for exploitation and effective processing methods," Mr. Dang Van Tu commented.
Effective data utilization will create significant changes for businesses, and many businesses participating in digital transformation have achieved remarkable results. However, many businesses are still unclear about where to begin with digital transformation, and how to store and utilize data effectively while ensuring information security. This is more prevalent in businesses with limited financial and human resources. “The ever-increasing volume of data and the need for real-time decision-making pose a challenge, requiring businesses to adopt more advanced forms of automation. These solutions not only need to adapt to changes but also learn from interactions and make intelligent decisions. This is where AI comes into play,” shared Mr. Luong Anh Tuan, Director of Business Process Automation (BPA) at CMC Global. "By integrating BPA into artificial intelligence (AI), businesses can automate complex processes that traditional methods couldn't, increasing their competitiveness in today's rapidly developing technological landscape," added Mr. Luong Anh Tuan. To solve the problem of optimizing business operations to better support customers in data control and processing, CMC's technology experts have applied AI, automation, low code, and cloud computing infrastructure transformation to reduce server load. Processes that were previously manual, such as data entry and paperwork, are now automated, saving time, resources, and operating costs. Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Le, Director of MISA Business Center, affirmed: Organizing and effectively utilizing data will help businesses operate better, enhance competitiveness, and significantly increase productivity, especially when data is processed using AI. “In many businesses, each department uses different solutions, leading to a lack of connectivity and resulting in repeated data entry and fragmented information. Furthermore, some solutions are only suitable for a specific stage of a business's development, making it difficult to inherit previous data when replacements are needed. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) particularly face difficulties accessing comprehensive ERP solutions (systems that apply information technology to improve the efficiency of business management and operations) due to high costs and redundant features,” said Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Le.
