Exploiting rural tourism potential in Vinh Linh district

Practical activities from community tourism and rural tourism in Vinh Linh district in recent years have shown that people understand that effective tourism is a direction to promote economic development and contribute to changing the face of the villages.

Nhu Phu Quy farm in Tien An village, Vinh Son commune was built by Mr. Bui Minh Phu's family on an area of ​​over 1 hectare. This eco-tourism area was initially put into operation in August 2024 with services: check-in flower garden, playground, coffee service, cuisine . Currently, Mr. Phu's family is continuing to complete many other items in the tourist area such as: lotus pond, swimming pool, agricultural garden.

Mr. Phu shared: “From the plan to form a community eco-tourism area, we invested an initial capital of over 1 billion VND to gradually implement it. Although it is not yet completed, we are very excited to have received support from many customers inside and outside the province in the past time.”

Feeling the first time visiting Phu Quy farm, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, a tourist from Dong Luong ward, Dong Ha city said: “I like the space and atmosphere here when experiencing rural tourism services. I will definitely come back and introduce more friends and relatives to come here. Hopefully Quang Tri province will have more tourist areas like this”.

In order to encourage the development of agricultural and rural tourism, in recent years, Vinh Linh district and other localities have actively coordinated to support households, investors and businesses in resolving related difficulties, especially for large-scale projects. For example, the Ru Linh Eco-tourism Area project in Vinh Linh district was approved for investment in 2016 by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, with a total investment of 319.7 billion VND.

However, due to some reasons, the project was delayed and the investment policy had to be adjusted. Faced with difficulties and the fact that the project was delayed, the People's Committee of Vinh Linh district promptly reported to the higher level. The Provincial People's Committee directed departments, branches and sectors to review and review regulations to guide investors in completing legal procedures.

On November 22, 2022, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province decided to approve the adjustment of the investment policy. After the adjustment, the total investment of the project was reduced to 104.4 billion VND; the expected land area used is over 137 hectares. In August 2024, the project investor held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the tourist area. Since then, the project has continued to accelerate its implementation progress.

Ms. Le Thi Ha Giang, Song Hien CNF Trading - Tourism Company Limited added: “The Ru Linh Eco-tourism Project is related to special-use forests and primary forests. Therefore, the forest handover procedures encountered many difficulties. On the other hand, the company was leased land in 2017, but in 2019, the Forestry Law changed, so the project procedures were delayed. Therefore, the local government and units have provided great support for the project. Thanks to that, the construction progress has reached about 50%. Hopefully, by 2027, the tourist area will be 100% complete.”

With the investment of households, businesses, localities and the facilitation and support from the province and district, Vinh Linh district now has many agricultural, rural, community and ecological tourist attractions that attract a large number of tourists to visit and experience.

Typical examples include: Cua Tung beach, Vinh Thai beach, Mui Lay, Mui Si, Ru Linh primeval forest, Ru Dung, Bau Trang, Vinh Trung sand hill, Bau Thuy U culinary eco-tourism area, Sa Lung river wharf eco-tourism site, Dfarm farm, Khai Moc farm, Phu Quy farm... This contributes to increasing the number of tourists to Vinh Linh, reaching an average of about 70,000 visitors per year.

Although attractive destinations for domestic and foreign tourists have been established, in order to fully exploit the potential of agricultural and rural tourism, Vinh Linh has determined that it is necessary to overcome limitations and difficulties, especially in terms of infrastructure systems and human resources for professional tourism. Strengthen leadership, direction and management in the tourism sector.

Focus on innovation, improve the quality of tourism development, coordinate to speed up the progress of a number of tourism-related projects and works that are being implemented and have been planned in the area... With encouraging results in efforts to diversify local tourism types and appropriate orientations, it is hoped that agricultural and rural tourism in particular and Vinh Linh district tourism in general will have stronger progress in the coming time.
