Akŏ Dhông village is an Ede village that was formed about 60 years ago. This is also considered the most beautiful Ede village in Dak Lak with many traditional long houses, many green trees and fresh flowers. Akŏ Dhông village has an area of over 62 hectares; has 247 households/1,004 people (of which Ede ethnic group has 64 households, 317 people). People here always preserve the gong culture, traditional musical instruments, traditional crafts such as brocade weaving, basketry, and wine making. Over the years, this place has become a destination for sightseeing, cultural experiences and tourism for many domestic and foreign tourists.

On March 3, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak held a ceremony to announce Akŏ Dhông village (Buon Ma Thuot city) as a community tourism village. This is the first community tourism village in Dak Lak to be recognized.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Phuong Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak said: Currently, the locality has many policies to support ethnic minority villages to preserve their culture. In the coming time, the province will continue to pay attention and use resources to support the villages. Thereby, creating unique tourism products of the village, such as souvenirs, OCOP gifts... to help Akŏ Dhông village develop community tourism in a sustainable way.
Society has developed a lot, the whole Ako Dhong village is doing tourism, but the Ede people still preserve the houses with strong indigenous cultural features for tourism. Mr. Vo Tien Dung, Head of the Department of Culture and Information, People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City (Dak Lak) said that the city has been promoting investment in synchronous tourism infrastructure, developing culture, and preserving in four villages. Ako Dhong village in Tan Loi ward, Buon Ma Thuot City (Dak Lak) is considered the most beautiful village of the Ede people in the Central Highlands. Ako Dhong Village currently has 32 traditional long houses, along with many sets of gongs, musical instruments, artisans, art troupes and traditional occupations (brocade weaving, wine making...) that have been preserved, conserved and promoted by the villagers through many generations.
Ms. H'KJăp Nie (41 years old, owner of Akô Ea Ecotourism Area) said that her family developed the tourist area based on the idea of the life of the Ede people. All spaces have the identity of the indigenous people and more than 90% of the people working in the tourist area are Ede people. The cuisine we serve to guests is also the food and drinks of the Ede people" - Ms. H'KJăp Nie said. Near Akô Ea Ecotourism Area, the family of the village elder of Akô Dhông (son-in-law of elder Ama H'rin, the founder of the ancient village of Akô Dhông), Mr. Ama Denny, also opened a business model, based on the cultural foundation left by their ancestors.
Elder Ama Denny said that our business area has seven regular employees, all of whom are family acquaintances. At the same time, he added that recently, Ako Dhong village has always received attention and investment from the province, as well as Buon Ma Thuot City. That is the construction of this village to become the first community tourism area in Dak Lak.
In early March 2023, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province announced the Ako Dhong Community Tourism Village. This is the first community tourism village in Dak Lak province. Resolution No. 08 of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Council has also been issued, including support for the development of community tourism in ethnic minority villages and hamlets in Dak Lak province in the period of 2021 - 2025; Dak Lak province will focus on supporting five villages and hamlets, and Ako Dhong Village in Buon Ma Thuot City is the village selected to implement a pilot model of community tourism in 2022. From there, expand and develop community tourism in the province in the coming time.

The Head of the Department of Culture and Information under the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City added that in the tourism development plan (2022-2025 period), the City prioritizes the development of a system of high-class 3-5 star hotels; a system of high-class eco-resort villas at tourist destinations or potential locations.
Prioritize the accommodation system in tourist areas and tourist destinations, especially developing accommodation in the form of houses with rooms for rent (homestay) and investing in developing community tourism in four ethnic minority villages (Ako Dhong village, Tan Loi ward; Tong Ju village, Ea Kao commune; Tuor village, Hoa Phu commune; Kmrong Prang B village, Ea Tu commune)./.
