According to Variety , Tom Cruise (62 years old) received a 5-minute round of applause after the screening of the blockbuster Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning inside the Grand Théâtre Lumière in Cannes on May 14.

Deadline shared a video on X of Tom Cruise walking down the aisle to a standing ovation. He stars in the Christopher McQuarrie-directed blockbuster, which also stars Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Hannah Waddingham, Angela Bassett, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff and Greg Tarzan Davis.

In another video posted by Chris Gardner of The Hollywood Reporter , Cruise thanked the festival crowd for their applause, saying he was "so grateful" to be a part of a franchise he has been involved with for three decades. The actor also thanked McQuarrie, who directed four Mission: Impossible films, calling the director "absolutely brilliant."
Tom Cruise looked forward to doing other films with McQuarrie in the future before turning to the crowd and thanking them for their support.

Whether the actor will return to this series or not remains a mystery.
"Let's show the movie tonight. This is like the culmination of 30 years of our career. We had a great time making it, it was so much fun. I just want you all to enjoy the movie, enjoy this," Cruise told the audience, when a reporter asked if the series had any future after this eighth installment.
Starting with the first part in theaters in 1996, Tom Cruise has overwhelmed audiences with his adventurous action scenes as spy Ethan Hunt in the Impossible: Mission series. The 8th and possibly final part will be released on May 23 (Vietnam is May 30).
