The content has just been stated by the City People's Committee Office in the conclusion announcement of Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong at the meeting on the progress of implementing investment research for group A projects.
Accordingly, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong assigned the City Department of Construction to urgently synthesize and complete the documents of the two investment options for the Can Gio bridge construction project and send a report to the Department of Finance.
Specifically, option 1 is public investment, ensuring conditions and procedures for submitting to the City People's Council for approval of the investment policy at the December 2025 meeting; building detailed progress milestones for each work content. Option 2 will invest under the public-private partnership (PPP) method, considering the proposal of Masterise Group Joint Stock Company, ensuring the expected commencement date of January 15, 2026.
Can Gio Bridge over Soai Rap River has a total preliminary investment of about 11,000 billion VND. The total length of the route is more than 7 km, of which the bridge is about 3 km long, the rest is the access road. The starting point of the project is located on Road 15B, about 500m north of Muong Ngang canal and the end point of the project connects to Rung Sac road, more than 2 km south of Binh Khanh ferry.
When completed, this project, together with the high-speed railway (Ben Thanh - Can Gio metro), Can Gio sea-crossing bridge... will create traffic infrastructure axes connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Can Gio. This contributes to exploiting the development potential of the Can Gio area, promoting the development of the city's marine economy .
Currently, the high-speed ferry route from Bach Dang wharf to Binh Khanh commune (formerly Can Gio district) has been restored and resumed operation. The resumption of this route contributes to the development of waterway transport and tourism in the city, while creating more options for residents and tourists to visit and experience tourism in the Can Gio area.
Previously, Can Gio Urban Tourism Joint Stock Company sponsored 3 200-ton ferries for Binh Khanh ferry terminal to enhance traffic connectivity in Can Gio area. The sponsorship includes costs arising from fuel, labor costs and other costs during operation. These vehicles are aimed at increasing the ferry terminal's service capacity, reducing congestion and meeting travel needs while waiting for the construction of Can Gio bridge.
