According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Environment), through the results of field inspections and reports from the Department's Crop Production and Plant Protection Stations in early September, it was shown that the 6th generation of adult leaf rollers had appeared and were emerging in the fields.

The common adult density is 5 - 10 individuals/ m2 , in some places it is 20 - 30 individuals/ m2 in many communes and wards, and in some places it is 50 - 70 individuals/ m2 (Kien Thuy, An Lao, An Truong, Thien Huong, Hoa Binh , Bach Dang...).

In the coming time, it is forecasted that the sixth generation of small leaf rollers will cause widespread damage and high density, with many places having larvae density up to hundreds of individuals/ m2 . It is necessary to focus on directing timely spraying and control.

Rats, two-spotted stem borers, rice blast disease on infected varieties, brown planthoppers - white-backed planthoppers, sheath blight, leaf blight, bacterial streak, grain sterility... arise and develop, causing damage to summer-autumn rice.

To protect the 2025 winter-spring rice production, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection recommends that localities and relevant units focus on propaganda and guidance for farmers to prevent and control the sixth generation of small leaf rollers that damage rice.

The Department reminds farmers to only spray small leaf roller insecticide on rice fields with a density of 20 larvae/ m2 or more; on rice fields with a density of hundreds of larvae/ m2 , spray a second time 4-5 days after the first spray; spray again 3-4 hours after spraying if it rains (heavy rain, showers) to ensure effective spraying; spray in the early morning when the dew is dry or in the cool afternoon.

Spraying time is from September 12 to September 20 (depending on each ecological region, location and rice growth).
