The 110kV Long Thanh Airport substation has been completed.

The 110 kV Long Thanh Airport substation, built within the airport grounds, will have two transformers with a total capacity of 80 MVA (40 MVA each), an investment of nearly 160 billion VND, and commenced construction in June 2024. It meets the standards for an unmanned substation. The entire monitoring system is digitized and remotely controlled, allowing for real-time monitoring of equipment status and ensuring the highest level of power supply reliability.

According to Mr. Truong Dinh Quoc, Director of Dong Nai Power Company, the 110 kV Long Thanh Airport substation is a large-scale project requiring high technical standards and a short construction time. Putting the substation into operation will ensure a stable, continuous, and high-quality power supply to serve key components such as the air traffic control system, runway lighting, passenger terminal, security screening, technical center, and other supporting systems at Long Thanh Airport.

The completion of the project contributes to reducing the 22 kV power supply radius, reducing losses, ensuring voltage quality, and improving the reliability of power supply in the surrounding area.

At the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Vu Ngoc Long, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Dong Nai province, stated that the 110 kV Long Thanh airport substation is both an auxiliary technical item and a crucial project, having a decisive impact on the construction progress and operational quality of Long Thanh airport.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Long requested that Dong Nai Power Company manage and operate the project ensuring technical safety, stability, and continuity. The Dong Nai Department of Industry and Trade will coordinate with the power sector to continue reviewing and forecasting load demand to prepare the power grid infrastructure for the next expansion phases of Long Thanh Airport and surrounding areas, ensuring that the power infrastructure always precedes and closely follows the urban-industrial-logistics planning of the region.

On this occasion, the electricity sector awarded commendations to several collectives and individuals who achieved outstanding results in the construction process, bringing the Long Thanh Airport 110kV substation and connecting power lines to completion ahead of schedule.

Long Thanh Airport, with a capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year upon completion of all phases, is being built on an area of 5,000 hectares in Long Thanh commune, Dong Nai province. Phase 1, with a capacity of 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year, is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026. Currently, Long Thanh Airport is simultaneously implementing many projects requiring a large power supply (on average, the airport consumes approximately 730,000 kWh per month).
