As a person working in the agricultural sector, Mr. Le Duc Minh has basic knowledge of cultivation techniques as well as safe vegetable production. In 2019, Mr. Minh established Tam Duc Production and Service Company Limited and rented land from many households in Thien Ke Commune (Binh Xuyen) to grow safe vegetables, tubers and fruits.
On an area of 3 hectares, Mr. Minh invested in facilities, renovated and planned the growing area for vegetables, tubers and fruits such as tomatoes, bitter melon, cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, etc. according to the method of crop rotation, intercropping and applying scientific and technical advances in the growing and care process.
The vegetable production process is strictly followed and tightly managed from soil treatment, seeds, fertilizer and pesticide use to harvesting, preliminary processing, classification, preservation and consumption of products, all ensuring food hygiene and safety conditions.
Each stage is fully recorded, in accordance with regulations and product quality is controlled. In addition, he also invested in an automatic drip irrigation system to increase water efficiency, reduce irrigation work and use fruit bags to protect fruits such as squash and pumpkin; use biological bait traps to attract and catch insects that are harmful to vegetables... Thanks to that, the company's vegetable growing area always develops well, giving high productivity.
Showing us around the model, Mr. Minh introduced that after only 80 - 90 days of planting and care, the company's 2 hectares of tomatoes grafted on eggplant roots began to yield fruit.
The rows of tomatoes with large, uniform fruits are planted and cared for according to VietGAP standards and watered and fertilized at the right time. The advantage of grafted tomato plants is their good resistance to pests and diseases, and their harvest time is extended. When ripe, the tomatoes are red, beautiful, hard, pulpy, delicious and sweeter than regular tomatoes.
From November until now, he has sold 15 tons, with an average price of 12,000 VND/kg, earning 180 million VND. In addition, the company also grows other vegetables such as bitter melon, cucumber, pumpkin... ensuring a diverse and quality supply for many supermarket systems in Hanoi , some industrial kitchens, schools in the province, with a quantity of 1 ton of vegetables, tubers, and fruits/day.
Always looking to introduce new high-value crops into intensive cultivation, in 2021, Mr. Minh continued to introduce the king's pumpkin - an imported crop to test-plant 1 hectare. After 2 years of "taking root" in Vinh Phuc land, the king's pumpkin has affirmed its superiority, the first harvest is after 30 - 35 days of planting, the fruit harvest period is 2.5 months; the tree is durable, has few diseases, the yield is from 1.2 - 1.5 tons of fruit/sao, the selling price is 40 thousand VND/kg, earning 48 million VND/sao.
King pumpkin is a clean vegetable with high nutritional value, rich in vitamins and trace elements, so the consumption market is favorable. Currently, the company's king pumpkin output is not enough to supply Korean customers living and working in Vinh Phuc.
To expand the company's product distribution channels, Mr. Minh has promoted products on online platforms such as Zalo, Facebook, and websites; and built the company's own sales apps. Currently, the company is completing procedures to be granted a 3-star OCOP certification for its pumpkin and tomato products; this is also a criterion to affirm the quality of the product and build trust with customers.
According to Director Le Duc Minh, although agricultural production following VietGAP process has higher costs and prices, in return consumers can feel completely secure when using the products. This is also an inevitable trend of modern and sustainable agricultural production.
In the coming time, Tam Duc Production and Service Company Limited will continue to invest in building greenhouses and net houses, diversifying vegetables, tubers and fruits; linking with households in neighboring provinces such as Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Phu Tho and local people to expand the cultivation of pumpkin, ensuring a stable supply for the market; building a model and network of safe vegetable cultivation. That is also a way for more and more people to use quality agricultural products, contributing to the effective implementation of the province's Agricultural Restructuring Project.
