Reading spaces - a destination for people of all ages.
During the summer months, strolling through reading spaces or libraries, one easily encounters teenagers, children, and even middle-aged and elderly people searching for good books. At the "Pink Candle" reading space run by Ms. Bui Thi Ha, a disabled person in Nguyen Du commune, in her small, charming flat-roofed house, Ms. Ha has dedicated the entire living room to a reading room with free bookshelves. Mr. Tran Trung Thinh, despite living far away, frequently visits the "Pink Candle" reading space to borrow books. Mr. Thinh said: "Reading has been my passion for many years. At this reading space, I find many good books; the space is warm in winter and cool in summer, so I often stay here for hours to read."
Despite being disabled, Bui Thi Ha, driven by her love of books, dreamed of creating a reading space to enrich her own knowledge and help those around her access and read. Initially, she collected books from used booksellers. Gradually, through inviting friends and collaborating with various reading spaces nationwide, she built the "Pink Candle" reading space. From having only a few dozen books, the number of books in the reading space gradually increased. Currently, the "Pink Candle" reading space has over 2,000 titles.
Reading spaces are flourishing.
In the province, there are many private reading spaces, family libraries, and temple libraries operating in various localities. Thien Phuc Temple in Quynh Phu commune has built and maintained a temple library with Over 6,000 book titles . During the summer holidays, the library has become an attractive destination for students . Older sister Luu Minh Nguyet and her two children have been connected to this library for nearly 10 years. On weekends and during the summer, she often brings her children to the temple library to read. Ms. Nguyet shared: "With its rich collection of books, this is the ideal space for my children to seek knowledge. The temple's atmosphere is peaceful, and here my children also learn to live peacefully and be friendly to the environment and those around them." Nun Thich Nu Quang Phat, abbess of Thien Phuc Temple in Quynh Phu commune, said: "Along with Buddhist books for Buddhists, the library also has many books for preschoolers, literature, and life skills education for teenagers... The temple's goal is..." To build a rich source of books, meeting the reading needs of most age groups.
Adolescence and childhood are crucial stages in the formation and development of each person's personality. During this period, reading culture is essential for children in their learning process, acquiring knowledge and cultural values of humanity. Besides the Provincial Library, the emergence of reading spaces, community bookshelves, private bookshelves, clan bookshelves, and family bookshelves in localities is actively contributing to promoting the development of reading culture in the community. To inspire the spirit of "Learn, learn more, and keep learning" in young people and in the general public.
