Promoting the effectiveness of legal awareness and life skills education models in schools

With the drastic participation of the entire political system from the province to the grassroots, after 1 year of implementation, up to now, the model "Education on awareness of law compliance and life skills in schools" has been replicated in 1,517/1,517 schools across the province (reaching 100%), attracting a large number of teachers, students and parents to actively participate. Thereby, the model contributes to building a secure, safe and healthy environment in schools, effectively serving the tasks of teaching and learning as well as in ensuring security and order in the locality. At the same time, many activities of propaganda, dissemination and legal education have been deployed. Notably, the program "Mock Trial" is jointly organized by the 3 branches of the Public Security, Court and Procuracy at the provincial and district levels. Mock trials of cases committed by students are a visual form of propaganda, strongly impacting students' awareness.

Along with that, more than 550 free swimming and drowning rescue classes were opened for students in the summer of 2024. Thanks to that, the number of drowning accidents decreased by 25 cases compared to the same period in 2023. This is considered a practical result and suitable for an area with many rivers, streams, ponds and lakes like Nghe An .

In addition, the provincial police force has also deployed many solutions to ensure security and order in schools. Thanks to that, compared to 2023, the whole province has reduced 18 theft cases, 62 firecracker violations, 12 intentional injuries and 6 traffic accidents directly related to students. Notably, the locality has not recorded any drug-related crimes in schools. School violence has decreased significantly in both number and severity.

At the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Bui Thanh An suggested that, in order for the model to develop widely, the Ministry of Public Security should continue to pay attention, direct, and create favorable conditions for ensuring security and order and building the movement of the entire people to protect national security. The Ministry of Education and Training should accompany in improving the quality of education and building a healthy school culture.

The Provincial Police and the Department of Education and Training continue to implement more strongly and creatively, focusing on rich, familiar content suitable for each group of students. Specifically, urban students need to improve their escape skills, handle fire situations, and participate in traffic safety. Students in coastal and river areas should focus on safe swimming skills and drowning rescue. Students in mountainous and border areas need to focus on preventing school drugs, human trafficking, and child trafficking.

The support of family, school and the whole society is considered a decisive factor for the model to increasingly promote its practical effectiveness, creating a foundation for forming a generation of students who are not only good at knowledge but also have solid life skills and awareness of law compliance.

At the conference, 5 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the model were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.
