Foreign investors pour money in strongly, VN-Index extends its upward momentum for the third consecutive session

VN-Index has officially extended its upward streak for the third consecutive session, reaching the 1,250 point mark after many failures. The positive performance of the market was mainly due to the breakthrough of real estate and oil and gas stocks, while the banking and securities groups were under strong selling pressure.

The trading session on May 7 ended with excitement across the market. The VN-Index increased by 8.42 points, or 0.68%, to 1,250.37 points, with nearly 762 million shares traded, equivalent to VND17,199 billion. The HNX-Index also recorded a slight increase of 0.52 points to 213.41 points, while the UPCOM-Index decreased slightly by 0.02 points to 92.92 points.

Phiên 7/5, VN-Index tăng 8,42 điểm (+0,68%), lên 1.250,37 điểm với 181 mã tăng và 131 mã giảm
Session 7/5, VN-Index increased 8.42 points (+0.68%), to 1,250.37 points with 181 stocks increasing and 131 stocks decreasing.

The highlight of this trading session was the real estate group with a series of codes increasing strongly. VIC and VHM, two pillar stocks, increased by 4.11% and 1.81% respectively, contributing nearly 4 points to the increase of VN-Index. Notably, VIC was strongly net bought by foreign investors after HoSE approved the listing of 1.79 billion shares of Vinpearl, helping this stock maintain green throughout the session.

Other real estate codes such as NVL, KDH, DXG, AGG all increased from 3% to more than 5%. NLG of Nam Long closed the session at the ceiling price of 30,700 VND with a purchase surplus of nearly 1 million shares. The total transaction value of the real estate group reached thousands of billions of VND, with NVL leading with 523 billion VND.

In the context of foreign investors continuing to increase net buying, real estate stocks have become the focus of attracting cash flow with expectations of long-term growth. In particular, HoSE's approval of Vinpearl's listing creates strong momentum for stocks belonging to the Vingroup "family".

Not only real estate, the oil and gas group also had positive developments. BSR increased to the ceiling price of 17,650 VND/share, with no sellers. Oil and gas codes such as OIL, PVC, PVB, PVS all increased by more than 1%. Cash flow poured into oil and gas after signs of withdrawal from banks and securities.

According to analysts, the recent increase in world oil prices has created momentum for recovery for oil and gas stocks, especially in the context of high energy demand.

Khối ngoại đổ tiền mạnh, VN-Index nối dài đà tăng phiên thứ ba liên tiếp

On the contrary, banking and securities stocks faced difficulties. All securities stocks fell, with VCI losing 1.6%, SSI, VIX, HCM, VND falling from 0.7-1.3%. Banking stocks such as BID, CTG, MBB were also sold off, closing in the red.

Cash flow tends to shift from banking and securities to real estate and oil and gas, as traditional stock groups have no new growth drivers. Investors seem to be cautious about unfavorable developments from credit policies.

Another positive point is that foreign investors have returned to strong net buying with a value of more than VND899 billion on the HOSE, focusing on real estate codes such as DXG, NLG, GEX and VIC. On the HNX, foreign investors net bought more than VND4 billion, mainly IDC and SHS.

Foreign investors' increased net buying is expected to create a solid foundation for the VN-Index's upward trend in the short and medium term, especially when this group mainly focuses on stocks with strong recovery potential.

The fact that the VN-Index surpassed the 1,250-point mark is considered a positive signal, reflecting investors’ optimism in the face of new momentum from the real estate and oil and gas groups. With the return of foreign capital flows, along with positive prospects from large enterprises, analysts expect the market’s upward trend to be maintained in the coming sessions.
