Former Chairman of Bao Loc City People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Bac has been prosecuted.

According to the decision to initiate criminal proceedings and indict the suspect, during the implementation of the National Highway 20 bypass project, the section passing through Loc Nga commune, Bao Loc city, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Bac signed decisions on compensation for land clearance, upgrading land plots from position 2 to position 1. This wrongful act by Mr. Bac caused damage to the State exceeding 911 million VND.

Mr. Bac has been found to have abused his position and authority, causing damage to state property and committing violations in the illegal allocation of 71 land plots. These violations occurred during the period when Mr. Bac served as Chairman of the People's Committee of Bao Loc City (2015 - 2019), and he retired in 2019.

In addition to Mr. Bac, the Investigation Police Department of Lam Dong province also prosecuted Mr. Nguyen Van Long (57 years old), Deputy Director of the Bao Loc City Project Management Board, in charge of compensation.

Mr. Long was the person who directly advised Mr. Bac to sign and issue decisions related to land acquisition and compensation for road construction in Bao Loc City.

Previously, the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee also concluded that the Standing Committee of the Bao Loc City Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term had violated working regulations, lacked responsibility, neglected leadership and direction, and failed to inspect and supervise, allowing the Bao Loc City People's Committee during the 2015-2017 period to violate regulations in the preparation, appraisal, and approval of compensation, support, and resettlement plans; and the allocation of resettlement land and residential land without auction, contrary to regulations.

These violations have had serious consequences, posing a risk of loss of state assets, causing negative public opinion, and affecting the reputation of the Party organization and local government to the extent that disciplinary action must be considered and taken.
