Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Thi Van Anh shared about the tournament at the press conference.

The billiards movement in Vietnam has been growing strongly in recent years. However, due to economic conditions, not many billiards enthusiasts have the opportunity to improve their skills through competition and playing against international players.

The Hanoi Open Pool Championship has made that dream come true. The tournament has brought the world's top players closer to fans, giving many Vietnamese players the opportunity to compete directly and experience a world-class tournament right in Vietnam.

For the first time, Hanoi capital has become the destination for the world's top players to compete in an international billiards tournament.

With a total prize value of 200,000 USD, Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2023 takes place on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital on October 10 and will be a milestone event for Hanoi.

Ms. Tran Thi Van Anh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: “The Hanoi Open Pool Championship is part of a series of events celebrating the 69th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital on October 10. The goal of Hanoi is to develop culture, sports and tourism. Therefore, Hanoi always aims to organize cultural and sports events of regional and international stature. The tour of the Korean band BlackPink, and now the Hanoi Open Pool Championship, have shown that Hanoi can organize large-scale cultural and sports activities. Through these events, Hanoi will be known to more international friends. Organizing the Hanoi Open Pool Championship is also an opportunity for Hanoi sports organizers to gain more experience, ready for the city's sports tournaments in the future."

Vietnamese players will have the opportunity to compete with the world's top players at the Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2023.

Within the framework of the Hanoi Open Pool, the accompanying Hanoi Junior Open tournament will also take place on October 13-14, providing a playground for the brightest young talents in Asia-Pacific to showcase themselves. 64 young players under 17 years old from Australia, New Zealand, Chinese Taipei, the Philippines, India and young Vietnamese players will compete for a total prize pool equivalent to $10,000.

This is a valuable opportunity for young Vietnamese players to compete with foreign opponents, including names like Albert James Manas - a young Filipino player who has affirmed his talent through the Qualifying Round and Peri Open.

Through Matchroom's global live broadcast partners, the Matchroom website system, billiards fans can follow the tournament live in Vietnam and around the world. All 6 days of competition will be broadcast live on the media channel system including the YouTube channel Web Sports, the Vietnam Billiards Promotion fanpage for fans in Vietnam to follow.
