Son of former Brazilian footballer plays for England U15 team

(NLDO) - Both sons of former central defender Thiago Silva have shone in Chelsea's youth system and Iago Silva has just been called up to the England U15 team.

Iago Silva has just received a call-up to the England U15 team - a memorable milestone in the young career of this player born in 2009.

Although his father, midfielder Thiago Silva, has 113 caps for Brazil, Iago is still eligible to play for England youth teams thanks to residency.

The Silva family have lived in west London since 2020, when Thiago moved to Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain. His wife and children will remain in England after Thiago Silva returns home to join Fluminense from the summer of 2024.

Iago Silva has been called up to the England U15 squad.

Sharing on Instagram, Iago wrote: "I am so proud to be invited to join the first training camp with the England team. My efforts have been recognized and the best is to come."

This decision does not mean that Iago will have to stick with English football for the rest of his life, as he can still choose to play for Brazil if called up at a higher level in the future.

Iago is not the only Silva talent at Chelsea. His brother Isago is also a promising star in the club's youth system. The 16-year-old defender has progressed through the U13 to U18 levels and is eyeing a move to the first team.

Last week, coach Enzo Maresca even included Isago in the B team list to participate in the UEFA Champions League.

The former Brazil captain made 113 appearances for his country in 14 years, played in four World Cups and captained the Selecao at the 2014 and 2022 tournaments.
