According to the Financial Times , Real Madrid estimated the loss at 4.5 billion euros. The Spanish Royal team said this was the amount of money they lost after the European Super League (ESL) project collapsed.

A22 Sports Management, the company behind the Super League project and its successor, the Unify League, told the Athletic that Real Madrid's compensation demands included expected revenue from stadium tickets, television rights and commercial sponsorship if the league split from UEFA's system.

Real Madrid have long claimed that “UEFA deliberately obstructed the ESL project”, which was designed to modernize and stabilize the finances of European clubs. The “Los Blancos” leadership believes that ESL can help big clubs be more proactive in terms of revenue, instead of being completely dependent on UEFA as it is now.

If Real Madrid files a lawsuit, the conflict between Real Madrid and UEFA will become even more tense. Previously, both sides were unhappy with each other since the ESL project collapsed in 2021.

At that time, under pressure from fans, media and member federations, 9 of the 12 founding teams of ESL quickly withdrew, leaving only Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus to continue to support the idea.

Real Madrid exploded with emotion after winning El Clasico Real Madrid shared a video recording the whole celebration atmosphere filled with music and smiles after the 2-1 victory over Barcelona in round 10 of La Liga on October 26.
