Hanoi continued to disappoint when they lost 1-2 at Ha Tinh Stadium. This was also the second defeat for coach Harry Kewell since taking charge of the capital team. Despite controlling the ball better and creating many opportunities, Hanoi still struggled in finishing and made mistakes at important moments.
The home team Ha Tinh entered the game confidently and played disciplined. Le Viktor opened the score in the 41st minute, forcing Hanoi to focus all their efforts on attacking after the break. Just one minute after the second half started, Van Quyet promptly equalized, rekindling hope for the away team. However, when the game was gradually tilting in Hanoi's favor, Cong Nhat's own goal in the 69th minute made that effort meaningless.
In the final minutes, Coach Kewell's team continued to push forward, but their lack of coordination prevented them from penetrating Ha Tinh's tight defense. The match ended with a score of 2-1 in favor of the Red Mountain team. Compared to the victory over Becamex TP.HCM in round 8, Hanoi showed signs of slowing down, especially in the ability to convert opportunities into goals.
The defeat temporarily left Hanoi in 7th place with 11 points after 9 rounds. Meanwhile, Ha Tinh moved up to 6th place with 12 points. Although he has only led the capital team for 3 matches, Coach Kewell is under a lot of pressure as Hanoi has not shown a stable performance, befitting the position of a championship candidate.
