(BDO) As scheduled, on the morning of May 28, the 16th Binh Duong New City Football Tournament - Becamex IDC Cup 2023 was officially opened at the Exhibition Center (WTC EXPO) - Binh Duong New City. This is the longest-running 11-a-side amateur football tournament in the country, attracting the most participating teams.
Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Council; Mr. Bui Huu Toan, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Becamex IDC Corporation; Mr. Nguyen Khoa Hai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong Province; Mr. Cao Van Chong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong Province; Mr. Ho Hong Thach, Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation; Mr. Vu Duc Thanh, Chairman of the Binh Duong Provincial Football Federation; Mr. Nguyen Danh Tung, Director of the Administrative Affairs Department, Chairman of the Trade Union of Becamex IDC Corporation.

To maintain the tournament for nearly 20 years as it is now is a great effort of Becamex IDC Company, the initiator and also the sponsor until today. Originating from the decision to create a healthy playground, serving the sports training needs of officers and employees of companies located in the province, universities in the province every weekend. After that, the tournament expanded to neighboring localities and increasingly attracted a large number of registrations from football teams.

There were times when the number of registered teams exceeded 200, in addition to teams in Binh Duong province, there were teams from neighboring localities. In recent years, the tournament has increased its appeal with the participation of many famous players and teams in the Southern Phui village. This year's tournament had 155 teams. At the previous technical meeting, the teams were divided into 4 qualifying areas, competing on the fields: VSIP I Industrial Park Deep - Thuan An, Provincial Stadium (BC training ground), Binh Duong New City Center Stadium and My Phuoc 1 Industrial Park Stadium - Ben Cat.
155 teams are divided into 40 groups to compete in the qualifying round from May 28 to August 6. According to the tournament regulations, VSIP I Industrial Park Stadium Area and Provincial Stadium Area (sub-yard): Select 4 teams (ranks I, II, III and IV) to compete in the final round; New City Stadium Area: Select 5 teams (ranks I, II, III, IV and 01 of the 4 losing teams in the quarter-finals) to compete in the final round; My Phuoc 1 Industrial Park Stadium Area: Select 3 teams (ranks I, II, III) to compete in the final round.
This year, the Organizing Committee continues to support the teams participating in the tournament. In addition to providing each team with 2 sets of competition uniforms. In the group stage, the Organizing Committee supports each team with 2 million VND; from round 2 to the final round, an additional 500,000 VND/team will be supported. The four teams with the highest rankings in the qualifying round will compete in the final round. In this round, the teams ranked from 1 to 4 will receive the Cup, flag and prize money of 30 million, 20 million, 15 million and 10 million VND respectively. In the final round, the Organizing Committee supports each team with 1 million VND, the teams compete in a knockout format until the final match. The prize money for the overall champion team is 100 million VND. The following rankings will receive 60 million, 40 million and 20 million VND respectively, along with other secondary prizes.
Right after the opening ceremony, at 9:00 a.m. on May 28, the first two matches at the New City Stadium area also took place between Cafe 88 FC – Dong Duong Driver Team (group 34) and Hoa Sat Steel – Tien Phat Wood (group 28).
