In the journey of building advanced new rural areas, Dau Tieng district has determined that environmental protection is not only a mandatory criterion but also a decisive factor in people's quality of life, creating a foundation for sustainable socio-economic development. Therefore, in recent times, the district has promoted the implementation of many practical solutions, from collecting, treating waste, sorting waste at source to raising public awareness about environmental protection.

According to the District Department of Agriculture and Environment, up to now, the rate of domestic solid waste and non-hazardous solid waste collected and treated according to regulations has reached over 95%. The District Public Works Enterprise has continuously improved its processes, expanded its collection scope, and ensured that waste is brought to a centralized landfill for proper treatment; the rate of households classifying waste has reached nearly 70%. The district's functional branches regularly coordinate closely with communes and towns to organize training, build pilot models, and arrange 2-compartment trash bins in residential areas, markets, and schools. These methods have contributed to changing public awareness of environmental protection.

Mr. Pham Binh Long, Vice Chairman of Minh Tan Commune People's Committee, said that the commune regularly coordinates with Southern Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited to organize environmental sanitation along the banks of Phuoc Hoa irrigation canal. At the same time, the locality strengthens propaganda and mobilizes people along the canal banks not to litter, contributing to protecting the environment and water sources for irrigation and daily life. For households located far from garbage collection points, the commune propagates people to self-treat organic waste by composting, not to throw it away indiscriminately.

Notably, Dau Tieng district focuses on promoting the construction of standard sanitation facilities, installation of drainage systems, and protection of surface and underground water sources. In addition, the campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's" launched by the Women's Union has also spread strongly, helping households to effectively implement the criteria of "clean house, clean kitchen, clean alley", minimizing the generation of wastewater causing environmental pollution.

In recent times, Dau Tieng district has organized many environmental protection activities suitable to local conditions. In particular, the movements "Volunteer Saturday" and "Green Sunday" are regularly organized in communes and towns; participating in the movements, cadres, civil servants, armed forces and people clean up, clear bushes, clear streams, plant trees, etc. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Gioi, Head of Tan Thanh Hamlet, Minh Tan Commune, shared that it has become a tradition that every Saturday morning, people in the hamlet clean up together. Everyone is happy because the living environment is getting cleaner day by day. Ms. Le Thi Phuc, a resident of Thanh Tan Hamlet, confided: "Previously, in the hamlet, there were places where garbage was left for a long time, causing environmental pollution. Now, the whole hamlet voluntarily collects garbage and cleans every week. I set an example for my children and grandchildren to follow, and gradually everyone is aware of maintaining public hygiene."

In Thanh An commune, one of the localities with many model new rural roads, Mr. Dang Minh Hai, Chairman of the commune People's Committee, said: "We assign each road to the Farmers' Association, Veterans' Association, Women's Union, and local Youth Union to manage. Once a week, associations, organizations, and people on the roads organize and participate in cleaning and taking care of trees planted along the roads and in the gardens. Thanks to that, the rural landscape is clearly clean and beautiful."

From small actions, the environmental protection movement has spread widely in Dau Tieng district, arousing a sense of responsibility and community cohesion. Each person becomes a "green propagandist" in their own family, neighborhood, and hamlet, contributing to building Dau Tieng increasingly green, clean, and livable. According to the leaders of Dau Tieng district, environmental protection is the responsibility of the entire political system and the people. Every small action from the community contributes to protecting the ecosystem and developing a sustainable economy. To implement effective environmental protection solutions, the district mobilizes the whole society to act together, contributing to spreading a green and sustainable lifestyle.

Dau Tieng District has implemented a propaganda plan to respond to World Environment Day (June 5) this year with many diverse activities. Specifically, the Department of Education and Training launched the movement "Green - clean - beautiful classroom"; the District Youth Union launched the campaign "Dau Tieng Youth join hands to protect the environment, biodiversity, and respond to climate change" with activities such as cleaning, distributing leaflets promoting recycling, and limiting plastic waste; notably the program "Walking for the environment" held on June 5, with hundreds of cadres, youth union members, students and people expected to participate in the march, spreading the message of green living - for nature. Along with that, recycled fashion contests, staged skits... on environmental protection content are also organized.
