Women in the capital join forces to fight plastic pollution

The city-level launching ceremony was conducted by the Hanoi Women's Union and the Hoan Kiem District Women's Union in the walking street area.

Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Hoan Kiem District Trinh Thi Hue said that district women play an important role in joining hands with the government, departments, branches and organizations of the city to protect the environment, beautify the landscape, protect the ecological environment and proactively respond to climate change.

At the launching ceremony, the Women's Union of Hoan Kiem District called on each female cadre and member to be an active propagandist, spreading meaningful messages and beautiful actions in environmental protection. At the same time, promote propaganda activities, raise awareness and change behavior in waste classification at source, limit the use of plastic bags, fight against plastic waste...

Responding to the "Green Weekend", the Women's Union of Ba Dinh district launched many models of "Plastic waste collection house", "Women's self-managed route", "Environmentally friendly trash cans"... With the spirit of "Everyone cleans their house - Every house cleans the alley - Alley cleans the street", the activities have attracted the participation of a large number of cadres, members and people.

Meanwhile, the cadres, members and people of 17 wards in Dong Da district simultaneously launched a general environmental sanitation campaign in alleys and streets; collected accumulated waste, dredged sewers, transported waste to designated treatment sites; created a strong spread, building the capital increasingly green, clean and beautiful.

Promoting environmental protection and the emulation movement "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful", "Green Weekend" has been widely implemented by women in Ba Vi district. Women's union members and officials have actively collected and recycled plastic waste; organized tree planting and care; and cleaned the environment around houses, residential areas, and agency and unit headquarters.

Women's Unions of other districts, towns and cities also simultaneously launched a "Green Weekend" to carry out general environmental sanitation, focusing on cleaning and handling illegal garbage collection points; clearing sewers and canals; cleaning the environment around houses; and implementing the "3 cleans" (clean from home, clean alleys, clean streets).
