According to information from the Department of Fisheries, Fisheries Surveillance and Sea Islands of Tra Vinh province (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tra Vinh), in the first 5 months of 2025, the total marine exploitation output was about 15,313 tons (reaching 35.53% of the plan). In particular, the 2 localities with large marine exploitation output are Tra Cu district with 7,234.13 tons, reaching 33.65% of the plan (of which, fish of all kinds 4,482.18 tons; shrimp of all kinds 401.5 tons and other aquatic products 2,350.45 tons); Duyen Hai district, about 6,100 tons of shrimp, fish of all kinds...
In My Long town area, Cau Ngang district, there are currently 51 vessels participating in seafood exploitation; of which, 15 vessels are 15m or longer. Local marine exploitation vessels mainly fish near the shore and the output is mainly shrimp, crab and sea mullet...
Comrade Tran Trong Tin, Vice Chairman of My Long Town People's Committee, said: Most of the fishing vessels in My Long are concentrated in many areas near the shore; each fishing trip lasts about 1 - 2 days. Particularly, fishing vessels with a length of over 15m often dock at Dinh An Fishing Port (Tra Cu District) after fishing to unload seafood. Along with that, the locality also focuses on propaganda work against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing to fishing vessel owners.
According to comrade Tran Trong Tin, in April 2025, the locality also received information from the Office of Inspection, Control and Control of Fisheries and the Department of Fisheries, Fisheries and Seas and Islands of the province announcing that 08 fishing vessels had lost connection. The local government and relevant agencies promptly coordinated with families whose vessels had lost connection to investigate and mobilize for solutions.
Mr. Dao Van Thanh, Hamlet 2, My Long town, Cau Ngang district said: his family has been in the fishing industry for more than 30 years; mainly fishing near shore in the Duot sandbank area (Buoy No. "0", outside Dinh An estuary), the exploited objects are ruot, mullet... In the first months of 2025, fishermen caught a lot of ruot, on average going out to sea from 03 to 04 trips/month, with an average profit of more than 02 million VND/trip.

In general, the situation of offshore fishing during the South wind season this year by ship owners is difficult compared to the same period, the output of fishing has decreased. Along with that, the owners of the means of transport strictly implement the regulations on fishing areas according to the size of the fishing vessel. Currently, the province has 995 registered fishing vessels, with a total capacity of 119,057CV, and a total of 3,456 crew members. Of which, 509 are vessels with a length of 6m to under 12m, 245 are vessels with a length of 12m to under 15m, 226 are vessels with a length of 15m to under 24m, and 15 are vessels with a length of 24m or more.
Specialized units coordinated to disseminate information to 1,092 ship owners/captains about the 2017 Fisheries Law and documents guiding the Law, and regulations related to combating IUU fishing. At the same time, they carried out inspection and control of seafood exploitation activities at Dinh An Fishing Port with 542 ships leaving the port and 550 ships arriving at the port. Monitoring the declared output (output recorded in the fishing log) was 1,379 tons; the actual output unloaded through the port was 1,393 tons.
