No fire in school

Schools are crowded places, if fire prevention and fighting are not done well, when an incident occurs, it will easily lead to panic, making it difficult to handle the situation. Clearly identifying this, educational institutions in Dong Hy district have focused on implementing fire prevention and fighting measures to prevent fires from occurring in schools.

Recently, Quang Son Commune Police in coordination with the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department (PCCC & CNCH) - Thai Nguyen Provincial Police, organized propaganda and training on fire prevention and fighting knowledge for students and teachers of 2 schools: Quang Son Primary and Secondary School. At the propaganda session, nearly 700 teachers and students of the 2 schools were provided with basic knowledge and content such as: Causes of fire and explosion; dangerous nature of fires; how to use fire extinguishers; fire prevention and fighting measures at schools... In each content, the propagandists have vivid and specific examples for listeners to easily absorb and remember longer.

Not only being imparted theoretical knowledge, teachers and students of Quang Son Primary and Secondary School also practiced how to use fire extinguishers; practiced escape skills, and handling when a fire occurs... With easy-to-understand communication, meticulous guidance from police officers and soldiers, and careful preparation of practice equipment, the training session attracted the attention and excitement of many teachers and students of the two schools.

Ma Xuan Thanh, a 9B student at Quang Son Secondary School : I feel very excited when the police officers disseminate knowledge about fire prevention and fighting and directly instruct me on how to use fire extinguishers and escape skills in case of fire. I will disseminate this useful knowledge to my family members, especially the risks of fire and explosion when using electrical equipment in the house so that everyone can prevent and avoid it.

Learning more about fire prevention and fighting work in some other schools in Dong Hy district, we found that schools are very interested in this work. In addition to strengthening propaganda, dissemination andeducation of fire prevention and fighting laws, schools also regularly promote self-inspection of equipment that can generate heat and fire and overcome shortcomings and deficiencies to avoid the risk of fire and explosion in schools.

Ms. Tran Thi Doan, Principal of Nam Hoa Primary School No. 2 : Every year, the school coordinates with police units at all levels to propagate and instruct teachers and students in the school on basic knowledge of fire prevention and fighting. At the same time, propaganda is integrated into the school's lectures and extracurricular activities. The school also pays attention to ensuring fire prevention and fighting safety conditions by strictly managing and using electrical equipment properly and safely; arranging flammable substances, tools and equipment neatly, away from fire sources, heat sources, etc.

Dong Hy district currently has 54 schools with a total of over 21,500 students and over 1,700 administrators, teachers and staff. Focusing on, enhancing knowledge provision and making fire prevention and fighting and rescue work a regular educational activity in schools is one of the issues that the Dong Hy district education sector is concerned about.

Every year, the District Department of Education and Training has directed educational institutions managed by the district to strengthen coordination and training to disseminate knowledge and skills on fire safety and rescue for 100% of staff, teachers and students in the area. At the same time, conduct a review of conditions and facilities on fire prevention and rescue for educational institutions to synthesize reports and advise the Dong Hy District People's Committee to repair, invest and supplement facilities and equipment on fire prevention and rescue in schools if necessary.

During each school year, 100% of educational institutions managed by the district are inspected by the local police force for fire prevention and fighting. Up to now, all schools have a fire prevention and fighting and rescue team, and team members are trained in basic knowledge and skills in this work. On average, each year, educational institutions in Dong Hy district have coordinated with police units and agencies to organize over 160 propaganda sessions and practical instructions on fire prevention and fighting for teachers and students of the schools.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Dong Hy district, said: Schools in the district have not had any fire incidents in the past. The Department will continue to direct educational institutions to coordinate well with units and functional forces to organize many experiential activities, practice fire prevention and fighting and search and rescue for all teachers and students at all levels; require schools to strictly implement the provisions of the law on fire prevention and fighting and search and rescue... Thereby, minimizing possible fire and explosion incidents and creating a safe educational environment for teachers and students to feel secure in teaching and learning.
