This morning, the National Assembly Standing Committee discussed and reviewed the Government's report on practicing thrift and combating waste in 2024.
Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang, on behalf of the Government, presented a summary report on the results of practicing thrift and combating waste in 2024 and tasks and solutions for practicing thrift and combating waste in 2025.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang said that in 2024, ministries, branches and localities saved 64,014 billion VND.

Commenting on the Government's results of practicing thrift and fighting waste in 2024, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh assessed: The thrift and fighting waste work has more good points than bad points, but it is necessary to clearly point out the shortcomings and limitations in order to have specific solutions.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh noted the need to focus on reviewing all slow-moving projects.
"It is necessary to remove obstacles for approved projects, and at the same time remove policy mechanisms to free up resources for future projects," said Mr. Dinh.
He also noted the need to review ineffective use of public assets, especially in localities. Any ineffective projects should be auctioned to build hospitals and schools; and proposed to revoke unimplemented projects.
“In the context that the whole country is implementing a streamlining of the apparatus, it is necessary to focus on financial management and preventing losses during the merger and conversion process. The handling of headquarters and surplus public assets must be effective, avoiding waste and negativity,” the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized.
