In the Quang Nam Province Elephant Reserve, in addition to the growing herd of 8 elephants, there are many other rare animals. In the reserve, there is the Truong Son large-antlered muntjac, a mammal, one of the rare and endangered wild animals, listed in the Red Book.
The Quang Nam Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area covers an area of nearly 19,000 hectares, located in Que Lam and Phuoc Ninh communes (formerly Nong Son district, now Que Son district, Quang Nam province).
The reserve currently has a herd of eight wild elephants living there, which are strictly protected.
