The 2026 Kia EV4 has just undergone a special endurance test, running continuously for nearly 10,000 km on the Nurburgring Nordschleife at 90-95% capacity. This is part of a total test program of 68,000 miles (more than 109,000 km) to evaluate the endurance of the battery system, electric motor, transmission, suspension system and cooling performance.

The Kia EV4 was almost always at full throttle throughout the trip, putting the powertrain and suspension components under constant strain. Fast charging was performed frequently, most likely at the 150 kW N Fast Charging Station that Hyundai recently installed at the Nurburgring, to test the 400V electrical architecture.
Kia EV4 surprises with battery life
After more than 119,000 km of testing, including nearly 10,000 km at the Nurburgring, Kia announced that the EV4's battery pack still retained 95% of its capacity. It is estimated that 10,000 km at 90-95% capacity is equivalent to about 150,000 km of actual use, because each km at this high load is converted into 15 km of normal operation.

While the test results are impressive, InsideEVs notes that battery age is the primary factor in the loss of usable capacity over time, especially with LFP batteries. Therefore, Kia’s numbers do not fully reflect battery durability under long-term use.

Kia's claim about product durability
With this extreme test, Kia wants to prove that the EV4 is not only mechanically durable but also maintains stable battery performance even when operating in harsh environments. This will be a big advantage when the EV4 officially launches and competes in the mid-range electric sedan segment.
