Inspecting the search and collection of martyrs' remains in Laos

On behalf of the working delegation, Colonel Ngo Nam Cuong expressed his deepest condolences to the Lao Party, government, people and army when comrade Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and formerPresident of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, passed away in early April 2025.

At the same time, I would like to send my best wishes to the Party Committee, Government, People and Armed Forces of Savannakhet and Salavan provinces; Division 4, Lao People's Army to celebrate the traditional New Year with warmth, excitement, happiness and many new victories.

The two sides informed and exchanged some results of the implementation of military and defense tasks, notably defense diplomacy activities with Laos in general and Savannakhet and Salavan provinces in particular, achieving many practical results, especially in the coordination of the task of searching for and collecting the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Laos back to Vietnam.

The delegation also inspected the implementation of the task of collecting the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Savannakhet and Salavan provinces.

Accordingly, since the beginning of the 2024-2025 dry season, officers and soldiers of Team 584, Quang Tri Provincial Military Command have made efforts to survey and grasp the local situation, overcoming all difficulties in terrain, weather, and information to search for and recover 11 martyrs' remains. In addition, they have carried out foreign affairs well, promoted mass mobilization work, actively built and consolidated accommodation and increased production and livestock raising to improve the soldiers' lives.

After the inspection, the working delegation commended the officers and staff of the 584 Collection Team. At the same time, they requested that the officers and staff continue to coordinate to promote the search and collection of martyrs' remains, strengthen the work of mass mobilization, strictly comply with military discipline and regulations of Laos. Develop a plan, organize the handover, transportation, and repatriation of martyrs' remains to Vietnam to ensure solemnity, solemnity, and in accordance with the customs and practices of the two countries.
