Officers and soldiers of Naval Region 5 deployed water cannons to put out the fire.

Due to the prolonged hot weather, the area where the fire broke out had many dry leaves and branches, so the fire quickly broke out and spread, making firefighting difficult.

After nearly 2 hours of actively deploying fire-fighting plans, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 5 and the force controlled the fire, preventing it from spreading to other Melaleuca plantations of the people.

Previously, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 5 had repeatedly provided timely support to help local people put out fires.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kien Giang province, from the beginning of 2024 until now, there have been 7 forest fires in Phu Quoc National Park, with a burned area of more than 14 hectares, mainly burning vines, shrubs, and regenerated melaleuca forests.

The key areas at risk of forest fires in the area are currently more than 41,000 hectares, accounting for nearly 50% of the forest area of Kien Giang province. The Department warns of the risk of forest fires at level V, extremely dangerous level, with the possibility of large fires and spreading fires in Phu Quoc city; level IV, dangerous level, with the risk of large fires and spreading fires in the forests of Giang Thanh, Hon Dat, Kien Luong, Kien Hai districts and Ha Tien city; level III, high level, with the risk of forest fires in An Minh district. Currently, Kien Giang province is focusing on implementing plans with many synchronous and drastic solutions to prevent and fight forest fires to minimize possible fires that may occur and cause damage to forest resources.
