A motorbike repair shop in Phan Dinh Phung ward is overloaded with vehicles after floods. |
Some motorbike and car repair shops in the area are operating at full capacity these days. Cars and motorbikes are packed into shops and garages.
Mr. Diem Dang Tuan, owner of a motorbike repair shop in group 35, Phan Dinh Phung ward, said: On average, he receives and repairs 20 to 30 motorbikes every day, most of which are flooded, have broken air filters, or have electrical short circuits...
At a car garage on Bac Kan Street, the number of flooded cars brought in for repair has increased, filling the yard. On average, the garage receives dozens of cars every day, and also mobilizes additional staff to ensure the current volume of cars and keep up with progress. According to the shop owner, there has been no increase in spare parts prices or repair costs, all prices remain stable to support customers after the flood.
Not only motorbikes and cars, but electronic devices were also damaged in large numbers due to flooding. Some electronics stores in the provincial center said that the number of items they received for repair doubled compared to normal days, and some stores were forced to make appointments for people to pick them up several days later.
Due to the need to repair large vehicles, some households have transported their vehicles to neighboring provinces for repair. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung, a truck owner in Bac Kan ward, has been continuously transporting flooded motorbikes to Bac Kan for a week now. Each trip he collects 15-20 motorbikes, the cost of transporting each motorbike is 150,000 to 200,000 VND for a distance of 80 km. In the first 2 days, he also supported the transportation costs for officials and people.
Due to the increased need for repairs, in recent days in Thai Nguyen, a number of voluntary organizations have supported free repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, motorbikes, etc. for people.
Among them, we can mention: Thanh Hoa Motorcycle Technical Association has organized repairs for more than 2,000 vehicles; Electricity University has repaired over 350 vehicles; Thai Nguyen Electronics - Refrigeration Association has repaired thousands of electrical appliances for free including refrigerators, televisions, electric fans, rice cookers, microwave ovens, etc.

Electricians from the Vietnam Electronics and Refrigeration Association support Thai Nguyen people in repairing refrigeration and household electrical appliances. |
Mr. Nguyen Cong Minh, Vice Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Province Electronics and Refrigeration Association, said: We mobilized more than 100 technicians from the Vietnam Electronics and Refrigeration Association of the provinces of Thai Binh (old), Hanoi, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa to join hands to help people repair electrical equipment for free at some locations in the central area and neighboring communes, from October 11 to 19. With the motto of sharing difficulties with people in flood-affected areas, we strictly do not collect any additional costs. If we detect cases of intentional price gouging or illegal fee collection, the Association will take action.
According to some people's feedback, there are still places and situations where a few individuals take advantage of the situation to increase prices and profiteering on some goods, causing many people to be upset. Therefore, people should choose reputable establishments, and at the same time, local authorities should increase inspections to prevent profiteering after natural disasters.
