| Pac Ngoi suspension bridge, Ba Be commune, completed construction in April 2025, is currently serving well the travel of people and tourists to Ba Be lake. |
In the past, people in many highland villages still had to use rafts and temporary bamboo bridges to cross streams during the rainy season. There were years when the water level rose so high that children had to stay home from school, agricultural products could not be brought to the market in time, and patients who wanted to go to the health station also faced many obstacles.
With the attention of the Party and the State, funding from the National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development in Ethnic Minority Areas, investment capital from local budgets and contributions from the people, solid concrete bridges have gradually been formed, such as: Nam May Bridge, Bang Thanh Commune; Na Tau Bridge, Cao Minh Commune; Don Dai Bridge, Thuong Minh Commune... have become "connecting circuits" to help people trade conveniently.
Mr. Ly Van Do, Ban Xa village, Thuong Minh commune, said: Before the bridge was built, people here had a hard time traveling. Since the State invested in building the new bridge, people have had more convenient travel. Now trucks can go straight to the fields, opening up opportunities to bring new varieties, fertilizers and farming techniques to people, reducing labor and increasing production efficiency.
In many communes, the area of rice, hybrid corn, fruit trees, timber exploitation and medicinal plant growing models has increased significantly after the demand was strong. Households boldly invested in raising buffalo, cows and goats in the direction of goods. Agricultural extension officers and veterinarians can easily access remote villages to provide technical guidance and timely vaccination. These things were very difficult to implement completely in the past, especially during the rainy season.
The new bridge also helps students get to school safely, reducing the number of absences and school breaks due to rising flood waters. Pregnant women and the elderly, when they need to go to the medical station, no longer have to face danger when crossing makeshift bamboo bridges. In many places, this connection also contributes to completing the new rural criteria, especially the traffic criteria, which is a "bottleneck" of many highland communes.
Mr. Ly Van Truong, Vice Chairman of Thuong Minh Commune People's Committee, shared: Don Dai Bridge being put into use has helped facilitate travel and regular trade of goods for more than 100 households in Ban Xa village and more than 300 households in neighboring villages.
With the bridge, motor vehicles such as tractors, harvesters, and motor vehicles can easily enter the village to transport wood from the local forests for sale, helping people have more conditions to develop the economy and improve their lives.
The bridges built in the highlands over the years have helped people travel more easily, produce more conveniently, and contribute to changing the face of the countryside. In the future, when the bridge-road system continues to be completed in a synchronous and modern direction, the highland communes of Thai Nguyen will certainly have more opportunities to develop.
