When officially operating, the expanded Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant will contribute to increasing the peak capacity of the national power system, effectively utilizing excess water discharged during flood season from the existing plant.

The project also contributes to improving frequency regulation and frequency stabilization, reducing system operating costs and reducing the load on existing generators, thereby extending equipment life and saving maintenance costs.
