Gia Lai: Digging drainage ditches helps people overcome flooding soon

On December 5, the People's Committee of Uar commune (Gia Lai province) mobilized two excavators to dig a ditch to lead water from the flooded area of ​​Nu village to Ba river, to overcome the prolonged flooding after storm No. 13.

From noon of the same day, the authorities began construction, opening drainage ditches about 1 meter deep, connecting the flooded residential area through the plantation and then flowing into the Ba River. Due to the large amount of work, the ditch digging process is expected to take a long time; when completed, the amount of water remaining in the residential area will be significantly reduced.

Flooded areas will be dredged to drain water.

Buon Nu has 433 households. Storm No. 13 made landfall on November 18, flooding 235 houses. Although the weather has returned to sunny conditions and many areas have receded, about 60 households in low-lying areas are still deeply flooded, with their houses and gardens submerged in water. Many families had to stay with relatives and have not been able to return yet.
