At the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Khanh Phong Lan, Director of the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that ensuring food safety is always an issue of deep concern to society.
However, over the years, public opinion has often focused on "fighting dirty food", while "building clean food" has not been properly recognized.
Ho Chi Minh City currently has a population of about 14 million, most of which is supplied by neighboring provinces. Building a safe inter-provincial food chain is a vital condition for the city to have a stable and quality food source.

Mr. Duong Phat Chieu, Head of the Department of Standards Management and Testing, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety, said that from 2021 to the end of September 2025, the Project Management Board granted certificates of eligibility to participate in the "safe food chain" to 131 farms and production facilities..., with a total output of 119,121 tons of vegetables, tubers, and fruits, 484,339 tons of meat of all kinds, 11,317 tons of seafood of all kinds, more than 2.6 billion eggs of all kinds and 24 million liters of fish sauce.
Compared to the 2016-2020 period, the work of coordinating management and connecting the consumption of agricultural products and food to ensure food safety has expanded to 10 more provinces and cities.
The city has built a database of 40,545 agricultural and food production and trading establishments in affiliated provinces and cities, including more than 2,386 VietGAP certificates, 300 international certificates such as HACCP, GlobalGAP, ISO... Digitizing information helps to clarify the origin, support quick retrieval and facilitate market connection.
In the 2026-2030 period, Ho Chi Minh City aims to perfect the certification mechanism, expand the chain model, promote digital transformation in management and traceability, and continue to strengthen coordination with provinces to diversify safe supply sources for the market.

At the conference, the organizing committee held a signing ceremony for the Plan for coordination in management and connection of consumption of safe agricultural products and food for the period 2026-2030 between the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City and 6 key provinces and cities in the Southern region: Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Can Tho , Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Lam Dong.
The conference also witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on business cooperation and consumption of safe chain products between the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety, the modern distribution system and production and business establishments. Saigon Co.op representatives participated as the main output; the input side included 7 production establishments and cooperatives from 6 affiliated provinces.
