Field trips associated with mass mobilization work
In mid-July, the rainy season in Phu Quoc ( Kien Giang province) entered its peak, with showers pouring down one after another, making the roads slippery. On the winding red dirt roads of Suoi May quarter, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 5 were still present regularly, diligently working with the locals to tidy up the village.
The field trip of Battalion 563 and agencies under the Command of Region 5 is not only a regular training content, but also an opportunity for the troops to get closer to the people, to understand the people better. For many days, the tasks were continuously deployed: cleaning public sanitation, clearing more than 12 km of sewer system, filling potholes, whitewashing the fence of Ho Thi Nghiem Kindergarten, supporting people to brace and reinforce their houses.

Despite the unpredictable weather, all work was carried out carefully and safely. Mr. Nguyen Van Muoi, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Suoi May Ward, said: "People here really appreciate the soldiers. They come early and leave late, working diligently without stopping. There were sections of road where the water was up to their calves, but they still rolled up their pants, shoveled dirt, and cleaned up trash. Seeing them work quietly and devotedly, everyone was touched and had more faith in them."
In addition to working to help people, officers and soldiers also actively propagate and mobilize people to comply with the Party's policies, the State's laws and local regulations. The propaganda content focuses on preventing and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, promoting the sea and islands, and attracting human resources to build the Navy.

Private Nguyen Van Tai, Platoon 1, Company 25, Battalion 563, said: "At first, I thought that the combined field trip and mass mobilization work was simply doing simple tasks. But when I directly worked with the locals to clear sewers and reinforce houses, I realized that the lives of the people here still have many difficulties. Through this trip, I feel more mature and understand more about the responsibilities of a soldier in peacetime."
The delegation also paid special attention to families of policy beneficiaries. On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025), officers and soldiers visited and presented gifts to four families of war invalids and martyrs in the area.
Mr. Huynh Hoang Em, a relative of a martyr, said: “I was very surprised when the soldiers came to my house to burn incense, ask about my health, encourage me and give me gifts. This is an emotion that is hard to measure. My family is very touched.”
Strong military-civilian relationship
To make the operation effective, the Naval Region 5 Command directed the Political Department and Battalion 563 to coordinate with local authorities and Party committees to thoroughly prepare logistics, labor tools and safety plans.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Huu Truong, Political Commissar of Battalion 563, said: "Despite unfavorable weather conditions, the officers and soldiers of the unit clearly identified their responsibilities, strictly maintained discipline, promoted the spirit of solidarity, and wholeheartedly helped the people. We consider this a practical training content, both training the will of the troops and contributing to strengthening the relationship between the army and the people in the stationed area."

Colonel Ngo Van Thanh, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Naval Region 5, emphasized: "We identify field trips combined with mass mobilization work as an important task, clearly demonstrating the responsibility of soldiers to the people. Through each specific task, officers and soldiers learn how to be close to the people, understand the people and live responsibly towards the people. It is from these simple tasks that soldiers become more mature, more courageous and love more the years of attachment, training and dedication in the army."
