In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Phong City, stated that Vietnam-Thailand relations have continued to develop profoundly in recent years, especially since the two countries agreed to upgrade their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by 2025. This is an important step, affirming the strategic trust and shared determination of the leaders of both countries in promoting comprehensive and effective cooperation.
He emphasized the significance of the Central Committee of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association and the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association choosing Hai Phong to host their Executive Committee Meeting, given that 2025 marks the 65th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh welcoming 922 overseas Vietnamese from Thailand back to Hai Phong Port – a historical milestone connecting the city with people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and Thailand. Hai Phong is also striving for a strong transformation, aiming to become a modern, civilized, ecological, and livable industrial port city of regional significance in Southeast Asia; a pioneer in digital transformation, green transformation, and innovation. The city values people-to-people exchanges as a foundation for strengthening international cooperation, including with Thailand. Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong expressed his belief that the activities of the two Associations in Hai Phong will contribute to consolidating friendship, enhancing understanding, and expanding cooperative connections in the future.

Chairman of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association, Nguyen Van Thanh, affirmed that people-to-people diplomacy is one of the three pillars of Vietnam's comprehensive and modern diplomacy . He stated that this conference holds special significance, looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand in 2026. In the context of the two countries having upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, leaders from both sides have set the need to strengthen both the scale and quality of cooperation, with people-to-people diplomacy playing a crucial role in promoting the strategic relationship.
He informed that the 14th Conference between the Executive Committees of the two Associations on December 11th will review the activities of the past year and discuss future directions, while also expressing his hope to continue receiving support from the leaders of Hai Phong city to develop people-to-people diplomacy in a profound and effective manner.

Chairman of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association, Sanan Angubolkul, expressed his strong impression of Vietnam's development, especially after visiting the DEEP C Industrial Park in Hai Phong. He highly appreciated the scale and systematic investment of foreign partners there, considering it proof of the attractiveness and reliability of Vietnam's investment environment. He emphasized that DEEP C prioritizes environmental protection – a core element of sustainable industrial development.

Mr. Sanan stated that the two Associations have implemented many meaningful activities, contributing to promoting friendly relations between the people of the two countries. Looking ahead to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand in 2026, he hopes the two Associations will implement more activities to strengthen ties. He proposed creating a commemorative publication for the 50th anniversary, building upon the 45th anniversary book already published, and suggested organizing a friendly football match between Vietnam and Thailand in a suitable location in either country.
