Kien Giang ranks 8th out of 23 provinces and cities in the Southern region in attracting FDI capital.

Kien Giang Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center (KITRA) said that on December 19, KITRA and a number of related units of Kien Giang participated in the Southern region investment promotion conference in 2024, organized by the Foreign Investment Agency ( Ministry of Planning and Investment ) in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Foreign Investment Agency, by the end of November 2024, the southern provinces and cities attracted 23,728 FDI projects (accounting for 57% of the total FDI projects in the country), with a total capital of over 237 billion USD (equivalent to 48% of the total FDI capital in the country).

Provinces and cities attracting high FDI include Ho Chi Minh City with more than 13,000 projects, total capital of over 58 billion USD; Binh Duong with more than 4,000 projects, total capital of over 42 billion USD; Dong Nai with nearly 2,000 projects, total capital of over 37 billion USD...

Meanwhile, Kien Giang attracted 68 FDI projects with a total capital of over 4.8 billion USD, ranking 8th out of 23 provinces and cities with the highest total FDI capital in the South.

According to KITRA, although Kien Giang's FDI attraction has seen positive changes in recent times, there are still some obstacles: Planning and calling for investment are still slow; clean land funds are still limited, so many investment projects have not been attracted to the province, especially tourism, trade, urban and industrial development projects.

Some large projects were approved for investment but progressed slowly, others operated inefficiently, stopped production...
