On the morning of May 22, the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with Thien Ngan Film Joint Stock Company and Galaxy Education Joint Stock Company to organize a political activity to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), among the collective of civil servants, employees of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City and the overseas Vietnamese community from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, France... at Galaxy Nguyen Du theater.

Ms. Vu Thi Huynh Mai, Chairwoman of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City, said: “The film Tunnels: The Sun in the Dark recreates the life and fighting of soldiers living underground, where darkness covers but is always bright with patriotism, iron will and courage. In a harsh environment, they not only confront enemies with strong weapons but also have to overcome fear, loss and hardship to protect their homeland."

"Through this program, the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City hopes to create opportunities for overseas Vietnamese to have a deeper understanding of the nation's heroic revolutionary history, patriotism, and nationalism portrayed in the characters," Ms. Vu Thi Huynh Mai shared.

After watching the film, many delegates expressed their emotion and admiration for the indomitable fighting spirit, comradeship and silent sacrifice of the people in the film The Sun in the Dark . No matter how harsh the circumstances, the patriotism of the Vietnamese people always shines like the warm light of the sun and a deeper awareness of the heroic revolutionary history of the nation, patriotism, nationalism and pride in President Ho Chi Minh - the founder, leader and trainer of our Party, the great leader of the Vietnamese revolution, the national liberation hero, the world 's outstanding cultural celebrity.

“Although I have lived far from my homeland for many years, when I watch the images of the tunnels – where small but resilient people fought silently, I feel like I am reliving history. What moved me most when watching the film was the silence – the silence underground, amidst the rumbling sound of bombs and bullets. In that darkness, people still lived, studied, and protected each other. I admire the extraordinary intelligence and determination of my ancestors,” said Ms. Le Thuong, a Vietnamese living in Japan.

Through the film, Ms. Le Thuong also expressed her awareness of the responsibility of those living abroad to preserve and pass on to the next generation the national spirit and patriotism, so that no matter where they are born, they still know they are Vietnamese.
