Positive results
According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, economic indicators in May maintained impressive growth momentum compared to the same period last year. Specifically, revenue from wholesale and retail of goods and services also recorded encouraging growth, reflecting the gradual recovery of purchasing power and consumption in the domestic market, with revenue of over VND 22,142 billion, up 17.35% over the same period. Total import and export turnover from the beginning of the year to date is estimated at 675 million USD (up 3.08% over the same period), of which export turnover reached 417 million USD (up 2.81% over the same period). Another bright spot in An Giang's economic picture in May is the state budget revenue from the local economy. By the end of May 2025, the total budget revenue reached VND 3,905 billion, equivalent to 50.85% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council. This result exceeded the average estimated progress (41.67%/5 months) and showed the effectiveness in the province's budget collection management.
Not only focusing on economic development, An Giang also pays special attention to ensuring social security. In May, support policies were implemented promptly, ensuring the right subjects and regimes, contributing to stabilizing people's lives, especially policy beneficiaries and people in difficult circumstances. The province promoted the movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide from now until 2025". Up to now, the whole province has started construction of 2,887/3,138 houses, reaching 92% (2,422 newly built houses and 465 repaired houses); completed and put into use 2,270 households. Particularly, the group of people with revolutionary contributions started and completed 464/464 houses (reaching 100%). People's health care has been enhanced, with many activities to improve the quality of medical services being implemented.
Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions, the province's socio-economic situation in May 2025 achieved many positive results.
At the same time, investment promotion activities continue to be strengthened. Activities promoting the province's potential and advantages, as well as investment incentives, have attracted the attention of many domestic and foreign investors. This promises to bring new projects, creating more momentum for the province's economic development in the coming time. In particular, the province thoroughly grasps and strictly implements regulations on anti-corruption, thrift, and anti-waste. Thanks to that, the business environment is increasingly transparent and effective. The national defense and security situation continues to be maintained, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development.
Recognizing the positive results achieved in May, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc shared: “In May 2025, the province's socio-economic situation continued to maintain a stable growth momentum. This is a testament to the continuous efforts of the entire political system, the business community and the people of An Giang. However, we are also fully aware of the challenges ahead and will continue to make greater efforts to achieve the goals set for 2025”. Sharing about the positive changes in economic life, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (a trader at Long Xuyen market) said: “I see that the trading situation is better than before. Hopefully, the province's economy will develop more and more so that people can have a more stable life”.
Go all out in the last 6 months of the year
Promoting the achievements, in the last 6 months of 2025, all levels, sectors and localities will continue to resolutely implement key tasks. Accordingly, the province will focus on implementing Conclusion 123-KL/TW dated January 24, 2025 of the Party Central Committee on the Project to supplement socio-economic development in 2025, with the growth target of 8% or more. At the same time, the province will synchronously implement Resolution 01/NQ-CP, Resolution 25/NQ-CP of the Government and the province's socio-economic development plan in 2025. Another important task in the coming time is to resolutely and effectively implement Resolution 60-NQ/TW, dated April 12, 2025 of the 11th Conference of the Party Central Committee (13th tenure) and Resolution 74/NQ-CP, dated April 7, 2025 of the Government promulgating the Plan to implement the arrangement of administrative units and build a 2-level local government organization model.
In the agricultural sector, the province continues to closely monitor the production situation of the 2025 summer-autumn crop, while strengthening the linkage in consuming the province's key products, such as: sticky rice, vegetables and fruit trees, helping farmers stabilize output and increase income. Continue to implement the Project on sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta region by 2030, in An Giang. The province will continue to review the location for implementing the 50-hectare model participating in the Project on 1 million hectares of high-quality rice, continuously implementing 3 crops starting from the 2025 autumn-winter crop.
To create a stronger driving force for development, the province continues to accelerate the progress of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project through An Giang province and other key projects of the province. "Investors focus on accelerating the disbursement progress, striving to achieve a disbursement rate of 100% of state budget investment capital according to the plan assigned by the Prime Minister" - Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung requested. At the same time, focus on reviewing, removing difficulties and obstacles and supporting the implementation of investment projects in the province. Focus on improving the investment and business environment comprehensively in all fields, to attract investment; have drastic solutions to improve indicators... Implement social security work well. In particular, urgently complete the program "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in An Giang province by 2025", agreeing on June 10, 2025 to summarize and completely eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.
With positive results in May and specific orientations and solutions for the last 6 months of the year, An Giang is highly determined to realize the socio-economic growth target in 2025.
