Timely support for moving assets, evacuating people and preventing dike overflow at Qua Cam and Duong Xa 1

BAC NINH - Before the flood situation on Cau River rose above alert level 3, on October 2, comrade Ta Dang Doan, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of Kinh Bac Ward Party Committee inspected and directed the work of flood and storm prevention, moving assets, evacuating people, and preventing the overflow of the dykes in Qua Cam and Duong Xa. Accompanying him was Colonel Nguyen Khac Trung, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command (Standing Office of the Provincial Civil Defense Command).

According to the report of the Kinh Bac Ward Civil Defense Command, floodwaters on the Cau River rose above alert level 3, causing the dike in the Qua Cam and Duong Xa 1 areas to overflow. Floodwaters overflowed into residential areas, causing 40-50 cm of water, isolating nearly 100 households, with the risk of property and crop damage.

Implementing the "4 on-site" motto, the Kinh Bac Ward Civil Defense Command mobilized about 200 people including militia, local security and order forces and people to build dykes to prevent overflows with sandbags and anti-wave tarpaulins, support flooded households to move their assets, and evacuate the elderly and children to safe locations.

Nearly 50 residents of Duong Xa 1 neighborhood participated in preventing the dike from overflowing to protect the neighborhood from flooding.

From 3:00 p.m. on October 1 to 11:00 a.m. on October 2, the forces participating in the dike construction used nearly 1,000 sandbags and anti-wave tarpaulins to raise the dike surface from 50 to 70 meters with a total length of about 200 meters at the overflow locations, helping households move many assets and evacuate 30 people to the cultural house and school area to ensure safety.

Directly inspecting and encouraging forces participating in moving assets, evacuating people and preventing the dike from overflowing in Qua Cam and Duong Xa 1, comrade Ta Dang Doan praised the proactiveness and positivity in responding to natural disasters according to the "4 on-site" motto of the neighborhoods. People have limited damage and quickly overcome incidents.

He requested the functional forces and people of the neighborhoods to continue to closely follow weather developments and flood warning bulletins, arrange and mobilize response forces from the first hour, and promptly report to the Kinh Bac Ward Civil Defense Command on developments and risks of flooding and dike overflows to have support and rescue measures when necessary.

For isolated households and people who must evacuate, functional forces must arrange and provide adequate food, medical supplies to serve daily life and ensure health.
