Commemorating the 120th Anniversary of Comrade Huynh Tau's Birth

(Baoquangngai.vn) - On the morning of January 13, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province solemnly held an incense offering ceremony and a ceremony to celebrate the 120th birthday of comrade Huynh Tau, former Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee (January 13, 1904 - January 13, 2024).

The incense offering ceremony was held at the place of worship of Comrade Huynh Tau in An Chau residential group, Chau O town (Binh Son). The ceremony to celebrate the 120th anniversary of Comrade Huynh Tau's birth was held in Binh Duong commune (Binh Son), his hometown.

Attending the incense offering and commemoration ceremony were Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Dang Ngoc Huy; Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department Dang Ngoc Dung; Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Department Luong Kim Son; former Provincial Party Committee Secretary Pham Dinh Khoi; leaders of Binh Son district, comrade Huynh Tau's family and a large number of people and students.

Comrade Huynh Tau, known to the people as Teacher Dau, was born in 1904 in Dong Yen village, Binh Duong commune (Binh Son), in a poor, studious peasant family. During his school years, Comrade Huynh Tau was greatly influenced by Mr. Tran Ky Phong, one of the veteran revolutionaries of Binh Son district. Thanks to that, he soon became enlightened about the revolution and nurtured the will to fight for national liberation.

Since the 1920s, he has participated in local patriotic movements, was a member of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association of Binh Son district; together with other members, he actively propagated, mobilized, and developed the association's bases in almost all localities in the district.

In 1929, while actively preparing to establish a Communist Party cell in Quang Ngai, comrade Huynh Tau and 19 other comrades were arrested by the enemy and sentenced to 1 year in prison. In 1930, comrade Huynh Tau was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam while in prison. This was an important milestone in his life and revolutionary career. After completing his prison term, the enemy put him under local house arrest, but he still found ways to carry out revolutionary activities.

Comrade Huynh Tau's revolutionary activities lasted for more than 20 years. This was the most difficult period of our Party, with countless dangers, hardships, tasting gall, lying on thorns, and secret activities under the siege of the French colonialists. Overcoming difficulties, Comrade Huynh Tau still left behind many great achievements for the Provincial Communist Party Committee. Comrade Huynh Tau once held the positions of Secretary of the Binh Son District Party Committee, Standing Committee Member of the Central Central Region Local Party Committee and Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee.

In August 1943, comrade Huynh Tau was arrested for the fifth time by the French colonialists and imprisoned in Quang Ngai prison. Knowing that comrade Huynh Tau was the Provincial Party Secretary, the French colonialists used many tricks from bribery, enticement to the most brutal torture to subdue him. However, with a loyal spirit, he showed the indomitable spirit of a communist, protecting the Party's secrets, protecting his comrades and teammates. In January 1944, comrade Huynh Tau heroically sacrificed himself in Ba To prison.

Comrade Huynh Tau was a person with a passionate patriotism and a fighting spirit to the end for the goal of national liberation. During his revolutionary activities, Comrade Huynh Tau was captured, imprisoned, and brutally tortured by the enemy five times. However, in any circumstance, he always thought and found ways to operate, restore, and develop the revolutionary movement. Comrade Huynh Tau's heroic sacrifice in a French colonial prison at the age of 40 is a shining example for the Party Committee and people of Quang Ngai province to respect, be grateful for, and follow.

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Dang Ngoc Huy emphasized that the 120th anniversary of Comrade Huynh Tau's birth is an opportunity to review the life, revolutionary career and great contributions of martyr Huynh Tau. We are even more proud of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam that has forged such a loyal communist soldier.

The Party Committee, government and people in the province are always deeply aware that the achievements today are due to the blood sacrifices and great efforts of revolutionary elders, previous generations, including martyr Huynh Tau. The noble sacrifices of comrades and heroic martyrs have contributed to the revolutionary cause of the Party and people to gain many great victories in the struggle for national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland.

The Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Party Standing Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee recognize that all policies and guidelines issued by the province must originate from the aspirations, rights, and legitimate interests of the people.
