60th Anniversary of Bau Bang Victory

This is an activity to celebrate the success of the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, term 2025-2030, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party. The activity to celebrate the Bau Bang victory aims to educate the tradition of patriotism, strengthen the will of solidarity, and affirm the determination to build a sustainable local development in the new period.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Lap, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Bau Bang Commune Party Committee, emphasized that the Bau Bang victory was an important milestone for the local army and people, marking the first battle against the US imperialists of the 9th Infantry Division.

On the night of November 11 to the morning of November 12, 1965, under the leadership of the Party, the 9th Division coordinated with local forces to attack the stronghold of the 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division of the US Army in the Bau Bang - Dong So hamlet area, destroying many forces and combat vehicles, contributing to the failure of the "Local War" strategy, creating momentum towards the final victory of the resistance war against the US imperialists to save the country.

According to local documents, the battle took place from 5am to noon on November 12, 1965. The Liberation Army destroyed and severely damaged 2 infantry battalions, 2 tank-armored battalions, 1 artillery company and the Command of the 3rd Brigade of the 1st US Infantry Division; destroyed dozens of tanks and much supporting firepower of the enemy.

After the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, Bau Bang gradually overcame the consequences of war and developed its socio-economy . The locality is now aiming to build a new industrial and urban center of Ho Chi Minh City after the merger, improving people's lives, preserving and promoting revolutionary traditions.

Within the framework of the ceremony, delegates and people offered incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh, heroic martyrs and people who sacrificed their lives in the fight to protect the Fatherland; at the same time met and recalled memories with veterans who participated in the campaign.
